Gt35r
When will a Garret GT35R spool to, lets say, 20psi on a stock 6 bolt long block?
Would a GT30R be better suited to a 2.0L? And how does a FP3065 compare to these Garrett units? Thanks |
Re: Gt35r
The FP3065 is a combination of the GT30R and GT35R. It has a GT30R exhaust wheel and the GT35R compressor wheel. It also has FP's special investment cast exhaust housing that will bolt up to a Mitsu exhaust manifold.

Re: Gt35r
Does this FP exhaust turbine housing flow better than a Garret one?

Re: Gt35r
I don't know of anybody who did a side-by-side comparison, but it's supposed to be really well made to match the flow of that exhaust wheel. If I remember correctly, it supposed to come up in between the T3 .63 a/r & T3 .82 a/r housings for flow and spool. I thought I heard somewhere it might be something like a T3 .74 a/r, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Gt35r
Interesting. Does any one know when a GT35R would start to make decent boost on a stock 2.0L?
I have a BR 20G tdo5/6 and it, like, isnt laggy at all? If someone said my turbo was laggy I'd call them a pussy. Just like "everyone" who says an ACT 2600lb PP is "hard to push." |
Re: Gt35r
It's hard to say exactly, but I would think it should come on around 3500-4000rpm.

That seems bearable? Wtf. I should have just gotten one of those. |
Re: Gt35r
The FP housing is between the .63 and .82 roughly, and is lighter than a regular exhaust housing and less prone to cracking because of the material they use. I've only heard good things about the FP3065. I'm on the fence about getting one myself but I'm thinking it might be too small for me. :-)

Re: Gt35r
Have them make you an FP3565 then. :)

Re: Gt35r
If I ever upgrade from my PTE 3565 I was thinking of maybe: 3575 but a there are also a lot of T4's that are starting to be tempting if the money becomes available.

Re: Gt35r
the gt35r will see 30 psi around 4000 rpms, much less than 30 psi means you picked the wrong turbo. a 60-1 will perform about the same but it will take longer to spool back up between shifts.

Re: Gt35r
exactly My turbo doesn't hit full spool till about 5800rpms starts building boost at about 4K
