noobie question... where to get lug nuts
SO i know that the lug nuts on my 92 talon are 12x1.5, but they're also a special kind of lug nut, with the shaft on them. What is technically the correct name for this type of lug nut, and where can I find replacements?

CarQuest, NAPA, Bumper to Bumper, Checker, AutoZone, Advance, etc.......
The dealer would have them too. |
Re: noobie question... where to get lug nuts
Yes, but do they have the correct shaft to flush fitting lug nuts, or just universal ones which would work, but arent exactly like the stock originals? I guess thats my main question.
I figured the dealer would, I just hate getting raped by the stealership. |
Re: noobie question... where to get lug nuts
I am pretty sure any parts store would have them. If it requires a specific style nut I am sure they have them. Its not like all air fliters or fuel pumps are universal, aftermarket companies make anything in the OE equivalent.

Re: noobie question... where to get lug nuts
The MAG LUG NUTS that the parts stores sell specifically for our cars are a little less than an 1/8" too long. They won't tighten the wheel against the hub. You have to either file down the inside end or put another (or thicker) washer on them.
Dealer would probably be the best bet unless you have the equipment to modify the ones from the parts store. It's not difficult, just take off a little bit of the inside end and you're good. Or, like I said before, put a thicker washer on it or double the washers. And BTW, this comes from experiences of numerous parts stores when I snapped lugs off and needed new ones in order to race rallycross. |
