Starting with a '92 6/4 Combo, from the ground up, what is the best 100% OEM mechanical setup for one's ride?

-2G Exhaust Manifold
-2G Throttle Body Elbow
-'92.5-'94 Head

-Tranny??
-Transfer Case??
-'90 Oil Cooler?

What else am I forgetting? :bounce:

16g, 18g, 20g :3gears:

Kracka 01-01-2004 03:07 PM

Me and CVD just made a list last night oddly enough.

14B, 1G intake manifold and throttle body, bored out 2G TB elbow to match the 1G TB, 2G exhaust manifold and o2 housing, 94 tranny, 93-94 turbo cams, EPROM ECU, 90 big-rods and oil cooler, 1G IC, 2G pistons

Jakey 01-01-2004 03:16 PM

Is there a difference between the '90 rods and the '91-'92.5 rods?

...and why an EPROM Ecu since DSMLink does not work on the 1G Ecus?

JET 01-01-2004 03:54 PM

90-92.5 are all the same rods. You can still do the TMO mods on a 1g EPROM ECU. Don't forget the big front brakes too.

Halon 01-01-2004 04:07 PM

would a 20g be considered OEM, it came on those mitsu delivery truck things.

Original Equipment Manufacturer

You could shoe horn a big block Chevy into a Cavalier body. The engine is not original to the car, but it's still a Chevy. That swap would do a Cavalier some good by the way. ;)

What was the timeline of availibility for the front big brakes?

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 01-01-2004 05:02 PM

might as well add GVR4(w/ the longer 1st gear) trannys and EVO 3 manifolds and o2 housings.

Shane@DBPerformance 01-01-2004 05:09 PM

The shorter stock DSM 1st gear is probably better for a 14B for drag racing.

Raptor 01-01-2004 07:33 PM

couldn't hurt to throw the 2g pistons on that list as well as a 92-4 4bolt rear with guts from a 3bolt.
The other optimum would be using a 92-4 Talon shell since it has the best CD. That and it just looks the best ;) Blue of course.

Actually the Laser has the best CD. I do agree the Talons look the best though.

Raptor 01-01-2004 09:23 PM

You sure about that? Wasn't the 92-4 talon subject to Archers influence to find a more aerodynamic design. That is the story I know and with a .29 cd I don't think the laser beats it. I believe they were a .31, of course I could be mistaken, that is just what I remember back when i was researching it. They keep calling me gramps here, maybe it's because of my memory or lack there of.

I know what you mean man, with this damn 14B first gear sucks at the track, but is great for launches... (92 With GVR4 Tranny)

BuildADSM 01-01-2004 11:37 PM

ok probably a stupid question but what the heck is CD
