Complete Color Change
Yes, I know to do a Complete color change on a car would cost a lot of money. I hate my car because it's red! But it's a decent 1G, and I want a black car. I don't care about painting the engine bay (I'd rattle can it or something the next time the engine is out hahaha), but would it really be all that time consuming and expensive if I had the car disassemebled? So the painter just would need to prep, tape, and spray? Or should I just go 1200 miles away to get a mint, flawless stock paint and body 1G.

Re: Complete Color Change
Nice 1g's are getting harder to find. I would probably look for a mint one and swap everything over though. It will probably take a while to find the right car.

Re: Complete Color Change
Painting is not that tough. You can tape off the interior and leave the doors open to spray the doorjambs, same with the hatch and hood. Leave the roof and B-pillars factory black, they look like crap painted body color. You can even get a pretty decent paint job out of Maaco on the cheap, but expect to fix runs and stuff, all fixable with some color sanding and a good buff job.

Re: Complete Color Change
I saw a nice black 92 Mitsubishi eclipse in a car lot when I was driving down Central the other day. Not sure of its trim, but looked good. it was by that Bobby and Steve gas station in Columbia Heights right off 37th. thought this might help.

Re: Complete Color Change
Well, painting a car is way less work than swapping all parts to a cleaner shell. Whatever floats your boat.
