What do I have here?

Picked this turbo up from a friend of mine. The turbo supposidly came off a MK3 Supra. I was told it is a Garret 57 trim TO4E .57 cold side .63 hot side. I'm gonna be honest by saying I don't really know much about turbos, and this is why I'm askin. Any info is much appreciated.

Looks like a 57 trim but then again a 57 looks alot like a 50. Both are a .60 A/R. You'll probably have to take the compressor cover off and measure the inducer/exducer size of the wheel. The compressor wheel sure looks burnt or discolored for some reason. None of mine have ever looked like that. I don't know though.

Some of the pros on here might be able to tell the turbo size just by the shape of the compressor wheel.

Nah, measure the wheels to know for sure. Pictures don't mean much.

Well, you know it is a T04E cover. There could be many possible wheels in it, the most common being 54, 57, 50, and 60 trim (going from smallest wheel to largest flow). 54 and 57 trim are cheaper than the rest, so I don't see why it wouldn't be the 57 trim. All are pretty similar in flow.

You could measure both the wheels to identify those and look for the A/R markings on housings to figure out those part. The setup you described is extremely common and likely.

Thanx for the info everybody.

I've done some research and have come to the conclusion that tracking all the parts down needed to bolt this particular turbo onto my car will be a pain and or waste of time and money.

Really? What would you need? As I see it, you would need a manifold, downpipe, maybe an adjustment in charge piping, and some oil adapters to flow oil thru it. Anthing i'm not thinking of here?
