New Paint?

I've been pondering getting a new paint job. I'm considering either repainting the stock Mitsubishi white whatever that paint code is, or I was also thinking a possible Lexus white with some flakes...Anyways, has anyone delt with any local paint shops? I have no idea where I could get this done, I could do most of the prep work. If you could just PM me locations and how the service was, that would be great guys, thanks!

No one is gonna wanna touch your car to paint it if you did the prep work. And if for some reason they still do it, they arent gonna warantee anything. Quality of paint work comes from the body / prep work. In theory, the painting is the easy part.

As for costs, unless you got extra money to throw away, changing to any different color besides the exact color of the car is not worth it. Not many people will notice it and the ones that do will ask you this - "That looks sweet, how much money did you spend?"

Winter is a good time to get this done as alot of people with nicer vehicles don't drive. Unfortunatly, I don't think my dad is up for full paint jobs over winter since it's so cold and we do work in the garage.

Painting a car takes money and time. How is it worth it for a DSM?

Some people like DSMs a lot. And Matt's car is quite nice, a white '99 GSX.

Id say instead of that you just part your car out and give me the interior!:) But anyways, This kid I know has his truck painted by some guy that came to his house and did it in his garage. He didnt paint the whole thing just some body trim and bumpers and hood. Sleepy can maybe get the number for that guy. I took autobody in HS 916 so I can tell a good job from a shit job and he did very good work. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/777128
As you can see from the before and after shots thats really nice work. and even up close it looks like its stock.

I know a guy who would probably do it for a decent price but he lives in Dodge Center(between Owatonna and Rochester). Let me know if you want his number.

Paint it Pure White. It's the purest white out there.

Understood.
I would go for the "White Pearl" of the 3/S. I forgot the paint code though...I'm not much help. Oh here we go...
One of my dad's friends might do it for you. He has won every show he takes his cars to...he is pretty much nuts when it comes to paint! Some of his metal flake is illegal...no idea why. I'll talk to him. Do you want show quality?

Whoa you guys are jumping way ahead of me! I was just curious as to where I could go, I'm just trying to get an idea. My engine needs more work then the body though.

Matt: Your car is beautiful and to my knowledge I haven't seen any damage, though maybe I'm not looking close enough. Why you thinking about this all of the sudden?

But as long as I am in this thread, my dad backed into my baby and now I have two gashes about an inch and a half long on the front bumper, a long with a line right a long the rim of the hood where the paint is chipped off and the primer is showing through [its's also a wee bit dented in, hardly visible, though it still bothers me]. He said he would pay to have it fixed, and I am thinking about trying to sucker him into getting the whole hood painted, seeing as there are other rock chips on it as well. Any suggestions here?

Go to the Dodge Dealer and see If they can help you out. HAHA! Just buy a carbon hood and call it a day. It may be cheaper.

Holy shit Blageo! You are so damn funny!

Back to reality... Carbon Fiber fixes next to nothing. I still have two large gashes on my bumper.

Carbon Fiber fixes everything.

From car imperfections to broken marriages, it fixes it all.

Re: New Paint?

Haha, cute Matt! I don't think carbon fiber would be worth it in my case. Then I would need to raise the price of my beast and have an even harder time selling it.
