Turbo Upgrade Advice
I have a 97 GSX with ACT 2600 clutch, catback exhaust, boost controller and running at 15 psi on my stock t25. I want to upgrade to a bigger turbo but I can't get a front mount yet because of my parents. So I was wondering what are your thoughts on upgrading to a 14b and a supra side mount? With a supra side mount it will just look stock from the outside and my parents wont know I did anything. Also, what supporting mods would I need for a 14b upgrade, if any? I know it may not be the best upgrade but I think it would at least be better than my t25. I'm tired of getting harassed on the road and not being able to do anything about it.

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
wait.... you parents will yell at you for having a frount mount? What about your exhaust? Shouldnt they yell at you because of your exhaust instead? LOL

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Well.. yea but it came with the exhaust when I bought it :)

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
T28/Big28 would probably be your best bet.

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
I agree with Kracka. Either that or a 16g (small/big/evo) would do you just fine also. Your going to get sick of the 14b after awhile and be askin the same question again. So I'd save up over winter and just start slowly buying things. I'd get bigger injectors, fuel pump, S-AFC or DSMLink, and a 16g or T28. Good luck.

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
cool, thanks guys!

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
you could also run a 20g with a supra sidemount if you have the other supporting mods. I ran it without a problem that way at least

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Plus the T28 is a stock bolt on, unlike anything else including 14b's. Nice, easy and simple. The stock IC is good enough unless you're going to run crazy boost.

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Get a FP Big28 or a T28 or something like that.
Also, I didn't see a downpipe listed, or I am just blind, who knows which. Get a 2 1/2 or 3in downpipe as well, that will show some gains. |
Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Alright, thanks everyone. I want some power but not too much for right now so I think I'm going to go with the t28 and leave the stock intercooler. And yea I need a downpipe. With the crankwalk nightmares I've been having I'd rather wait to go big so not to help speed up the process. :) .. yes two days in a row, I've had crankwalk nightmares lol.

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
crankwalk is just an excuse to upgrade

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Get a 2.5" downpipe along with testpipe; you are going to want either a fully ported o2 housing or a tubular one. Do you know what kind of catback you have?

Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Skip all the BS and go straight to the 67Trim, you won't regret it!
Till something breaks........:-P |
Re: Turbo Upgrade Advice
Ha, lag lag lag lag lag.
Just put a FMIC on it. Your parents might notice that monstrousity Supra sidemount hanging down all wacked out in your wheel well. |

I have a 97 GSX with ACT 2600 clutch, catback exhaust, boost controller and running at 15 psi on my stock t25 Get a downpipe. get an uicp / blow off valve. Get an intake filter (pipe if you really want it). Then upgrade your stock turbo to a direct bolt-on t-28. Raise boost to around 17psi. You would feel the difference. You won't need supporting mods on the t-28 unless you go higher. 17 should be safe. Just don't beat the crap outta the car. I wouldn't go 14b. Stock to Stock, why not just get a bigger upgrade? |

The act2600 would put alot alot more pressure on your crank. This increases your chances of getting crankwalk. |
