Cedar Falls Oct. 29th

Is anyone else heading down to Cedar Falls IA on the 29th? This is the last race date I know of for any of the tracks around here. I will be heading out at 6am with a pit stop near Albert Lea to pick my dad up.

I am going to be working on my car Tues and Wed. Hopefully I can get the fuel issue figured out and crank the boost up. I am also going to be taking some rear camber out. That should help it get out of the hole better. I am sure traction will be an issue with the cold weather, but they do prep the track well down there. It better not be as packed this time!

How far is Cedar Falls from the cities?

4 to 4.5 hours.

Dam, that would be about 6.5 to 7 for me then. I can't. In checking their website, it's a race day. I'd probably go out first round so too far to go for me. If it were a test & tune day, i'd probably go.

If you guys are ever interested, Union Grove has open racing days pretty much until the snow flies. www.greatlakesdragaway.com

Wow, I might have to head over there later if we get a decent weekend and I get things figured out! Hopefully I can at least get a 11.5 or lower this weekend.

Yeah, we could maybe convoy down there. 3 years ago a buddy of mine went down there just before Thanksgiving. He ran the best time ever that day. The only problem with this time of year is that these trips usually have to be close to a last minute decision. Weather is pretty unpredictable. That and just plain getting motivated in the cold mornings is my problem.

You'll have to see how it goes on the 29th. If you hit 11.5 or better, you'll probably want to end the season on a good note and park it. I imagine that you'll be doing your test/tuning this week out on the back roads. What are you using for computer management?

Aren't they stricter at Great Lakes? Not that you guys would break an 11.5 or anything. :) :)

Damn you ladies must drive slow.:p Mapquest puts Minneapolis to Cedar Falls at 3 hours & 25 minutes granted I'm not too trusting of the recommended route in terms of time.

Where in Wisconsin are you, anywhere near US Hwy. 20?

Slow? No, but we are usually trailering a car (or two). 60mph is your friend.

I'm located about 1/2 way between Chippewa Falls and Wausau, WI., but i would say just a tad closer to Wausau. I'm not sure where U.S. 20 is. Doesn't sound local to me though. The closest tracks for me are Rock Falls (1hr drive) and Wisconsin International Raceway (2+ hours). I like W.I.R. because they get alot exhibition stuff there during the summer like jet cars, etc..

Ooops, my fault, I had my roads mixed up. I was thinking US 151 but either way I didn't realize how far north you are.

It's looking I will be there with a video camera. My roomate with his '94 Camaro(minor mods & 6 speed swap) and a buddy of ours with his '98 GTP(turbo swap) are wanting to run their cars. The weather is looking excellent for Cedar Falls on Saturday as it is supposed to be around 60 and sunny.

Anyone running at Cedar Falls on Saturday would be welcome to come to Ames Saturday night and party as it's looking to be a good Saturday night of Halloween parties.

From my house in Brooklyn Park, it's exactly 3.5 hours towing a car trailer. They've run the highway straight through all the way to Cedar Falls, so there's no more stopping in small towns along the way. I think I even had a gas stop in that time frame.

Well, I think I figured out my fuel problem. You tend to forget things after not driving your car for 2 years. The relay in my fuel pump rewire had died, so I bypassed it back to the stock wiring. So I was trying to power a 255HP at high loads with the stock wiring. I bet the wires were getting a little warm!

The flywheel bolts will be fixed tomorrow, ISC replaced, and the rear camber will be fixed. Put some race gas in and do some tuning on Thurs & Fri. I couldn't get the damn thing to start tonight, I am guess the AIT calibration isn't spot on. The new ISC should help that too. If that does fix my fuel issue, I should be getting some good traps at CF.

Things are looking good so far. The flywheel bolts were loose. The tranny is back in and I just have to hook everything else back up. I am going to fix the rear camber tonight too and get it out and do some tuning.

Steve- are you heading down?

Shane- is Mara's car ready yet?

I can't remember if Steve leaves today or tomorrow, but he said something about a trip this weekend to a warmer climate. I don't think that means IA. lol
