Engine swap

I'm looking at buying a 4G63 DOHC (6 BOLT) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8005603809&sspa gename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT
engine to put into my 1991 Eclipse GSX and in my car now it has turbo but the new engine doesn't. Is it possible to swith it from my old engine to my new engine without breaking anything or is a non-turbo engine supposed to stay that way? If it is o.k. for the engine, how difficult would it be to do?

Re: Engine swap

You would want a turbo motor in a turbo car. The compression ratio of that non-turbo motor on Ebay would be all wrong.

Re: Engine swap

The motor won't fire. It cranks and cranks without anything but a backfire here and there. I pulled the injectors out and they aren't opening. i think my timing my be off which i know ruins the engine. Would it ruin it even if it doesn't start? And i haven't had time to look into it anymore so I started looking for a new engine.

Pulled the injectors out and they aren't opening. I'd like to see how you came to that conclusion.

Re: Engine swap

It's ignition and or timing related. I'd start by checking to see if your timing belt has skipped. Take the upper timing belt cover off, rotate the cam gears with a 1/2" drive socket wrench on the crank pulley til both of the tangs are up at 12 o'clock and the timing marks line up, then check that the crank timing mark is at the TDC mark. If not, it's skipped causing the kind of problem you describe.

If you mention neon lights on your car, this post will disappear. :D

There are numbers on the timing belt cover, and the letters "TDC" are on there. There is also a small notch on the crank pulley itself, line that up with the TDC mark on the cover by rotating the crank by hand.
