Carbon Fiber Road Bike
Look what I picked up. '05 Specialized Roubaix Elite. It's not the holy grail of bikes, but it's still pretty nice. It's alot more comfortable than it looks too. Plus it only weighs like 17 lbs. I probably spent more than I should have, but I plan on having and using it for a few years, so I think it will be worth it.

Re: Carbon Fiber Road Bike
Specialized makes some sweet bikes, i like their designs, very simple and functional. I have had their RockHopper since 99 (2000 model) and it has performed very well every time i taken it out. The gears they use and all of the components are top notch, I like their gear shift design and it is very durable. You will be very happy with the bike for a long time!!!!
edit: The bike i have is designed for offroading, the one you have there is strictly road only... so yours probably won't see the muddy, wet, rocky trails mine has seen and its survived so far.. mine survived what i have put it throu and have over 400 miles on the bike so far without a single issue that right there should tell you on their quality.. how much was it?? -E |
Re: Carbon Fiber Road Bike
This is my 5th Specialized that I have bought, which tells you what I think about the quality. :D I actually have a Rockhopper as well. I think it's an '02, but I can't remember. That's a pretty nice bike too, I've never had any problems with it, just a few adjustments here and there.
As for the Roubaix, I plan on putting at least 3-4k miles on it before I turn it in. Which means I will have it for a while. :) How much did I pay for it? Too much. :D They were on sale for $1,900 at Erik's Bike Shop. That's why I plan on having it for a while. |
Re: Carbon Fiber Road Bike
that thing looks dope. is it true that having a nice bike makes riding that much more enjoyable? i've heard some people just can't enjoy it at all if they are on like a cheapo schwinn or something of that nature.

p.s. I made a mistake in my first post. According to the article, the bike weighs 19.7 lbs, not 17. But that's still pretty damn light. :) |
Re: Carbon Fiber Road Bike
Nice bike. Those ride pretty good. I rode the Allez from last year and that was a kick ass bike to ride. This is more my style though...

Look what I just picked up. It's usually a good idea to stay off ebay after you've had a few beers. j/k I wasn't that drunk, but it's probably not something I needed. Here's the deal, brand new it retailed for about $2800, and I picked it up for way less than half that much. I thought for sure someone would out bid me, but that wasn't the case. It's slightly used, but I can't tell the difference. It looks brand new.
