Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Finally got her down the track...
60' ~ 1.937 1/8 ~ 7.493 @ 103.13 1/4 ~ 11.317 @ 130.17 So its pretty obvious that I can't get it out of the hole, but for my fifth time down the track in an awd car I guess you can't ask for much. I want to thank everyone that helped with the car up until this point. Kyle "ghetto" Nelson who built it from the ground up with me, Kevin Johnson who helped me tune the thing just before track time, Mike at QPR for his last minute welding (once again lol), and also Elite for letting me use their dyno after hours to sort out the several problems we had getting it running right. Also anyone else I may have forgot, thanks for the help! She's still got a lot more left in her... Chris Carey |

Awesome to hear. Is it running pretty good otherwise?

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Gratz Chris! It sounds like you guys found some more power than when it was on the dyno. Are you heading over to RF on the 27th or 28th? I might be over there doing some shake down runs with the new setup on the 27th.

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
It's actually running very well, we didn't break or even touch the car besides to check the oil for that matter. we did have some major problems prior to norwalk which we finally got worked out through some street tuning. I think the power level still might be a bit low for the boost we were running, but I know the tune isn't as good as it could be. Plus the stock head and intake manifold don't help lol.
As far as Rock Falls, I am considering going and trying to get into the 10's, but without a cage I probably won't get more than 2 attempts... |
Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Just back out of it if the launch isn't that good. I will probably be doing the same thing. Or you can roll 2' through the lights, wait a few seconds, then launch it.

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
didn't rock Falls change it to 11.4 before you need a cage? or 130mph?
I think since most people seem to have trouble running good times at the rock. You'll probalby get quite a few attempts at it. Wish you all the best of luck. My car looks like it'll be running for Moroso import nationals this weekend. But won't be tuned or broke in. 500miles is a hell of alot around this area. If I had like 4 days more I could do it. But 1 day isn't enough |
Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Hop on 95 and head north! Yeah, RF is 11.49 before you need a cage.

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Your welcome for the tune. and I hope things keep going well. I have a few more ideas about the power issues and stuff too So well see whats up. Norwalk was one of the best times I've had so far it kicked ass!

..i helped too? sorta..anyway, good times..glad to hear your car was running better then the way we left it that one long night. Still, for the boost you are running, I am suprised you're running soo "slow"..

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
what did you get on the dyno?
|
Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Rock Falls is such a waste of life. I wouldn't ever bother going there for a serious ET. Good luck with the car though. It is missing quite a bit of power but at least its still very quick.

Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
for that size turbo/set up 130mph trap isn't that high. Considering he's running 35psi.
I believe he's running a Full T4 with a 2.4L motor and all the goodies. Seems 130mph trap for 1G's seem to be around low 500whp range. (anywhere from 510-530whp) However Chris I believe is driving a heavy bubble car which means he might be running a bit more power. Anyrate great mph and great time Just needs to work on the launching/60' times and he'd be into the 10's. |
Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
His car isn't all that heavy, it is pretty well gutted. There is still some more they are going to do, but it has to be well under 3000 lbs. When he was at the track that should have been low 500's for HP. Kyle thinks it is more like 600, but I think that is a little optimistic. It is holding up well though, which is good for a DSM!

There's no way that's making near 600whp. Sorry to burst your bubble, but if I was to guess, I'd say it's probably 525ish, 540 at most. 600whp and a 2900#ish car should be a 134-136 mph trap. Just my .07 ; As an example, my pos last year weighed 2995 w/ me in it and was running about 560-580 whp at the track and trapped 132.90 so yea... |
Re: Shootout Results ~ 11.31 @ 130 mph
Got to see the car for awhile at the cookout today. I guess it needs a couple more things, but that fucker was tight! Gotta commend Kyle and KEVIN for a job well done. 4 inch exhaust... what? :) Good job guys!
Who the hells Steve? :) |

How many miles are on the new bearings? Did it drive there or was it trailered?
