Reapping the Block

I'm gonna retap the head stud threads on the block (for ARPs). Should I use any lubricant? I was reading, and I read you can tap cast iron dry, or at least use air to blow away stuff (or suck it up).
Thanks, Kevin Swalchick

Re: Reapping the Block

I would use thread cutting oil when taping it and then make sure to blow the holes out before installing the headstuds. You might be fine without the oil, but I would use it.

Re: Reapping the Block

When retapping something it isn't necessary to use cutting fluid. Basically all you will be taking out is rust.
