Fans while turbo timer?
Ok, i left the car runing on turbo timer for about 2 minutes and i watched on dsmlink temp get up to 220-223 fans didn't come on at all!!!!
Anyone know of a way to make sure that the fans continue to be functional once keys are removed? Eric ??? -E |
Re: Fans while turbo timer?
Don't use a turbo timer? ;)

Re: Fans while turbo timer?
2 minutes is quite awhile. Usually turbos only need 30 second to a minute of cool down time. You could hook them up to a relay running off the turbo timer if need be.

Re: Fans while turbo timer?
My fans kick in fine on my 1g while it's timing. Did you use the pre-made wiring harness for the turbo timer or did you splice it in?

Re: Fans while turbo timer?
1G fans are not run by the ECU like on the 2G. But, yea, don't turbo time it so long. Cars usually get hotter when they sit and idle.

Re: Fans while turbo timer?
yah, as i figured last night i turned it off and since i was boosting it pretty good i bumped it up from 30 seconds to 2 minutes let it cool off..
i let the laptop log the idle as well and i look back after 1minute 38 seconds and the temp is at 223 ouch... so i put the key back in and get it down to 196 at idle. |
Re: Fans while turbo timer?
Somehow your turbo timer is not powering the accessory wire which gives power to your fans. Either use a relay to energize that wire, or just let your turbo timer do its thing for only 30 seconds.

Re: Fans while turbo timer?
I didn't realize the fans were controlled by the ecu in the 2g's and not in the 1g's. That's some useful info. Thanks Shane. (not trying to be sarcastic or anything)
