Sounds like fun... Count me in.

YOu have to be invited. I want to take the truck!!!!

hmm I want to go. Maybe I should bring up my newly studded 600 SX snowmobile. That would be fun.
How far is it up there? |
I am in for the race! My boss at work is also going to run in the S2 class with his neon. Should be a blast! I am running the S4 class with my red 92 AWD. Now I just have to get a new FPR and hopefully it will stop missing above 5k. I am grabbing my snow tires this weekend.

Jet did you get a date on it? I will email him later, but can you tell me the date? I would go if its not in the way of any thing else. Either the snowmobile or my car would be up for a race.
|
I would go but that's the same day as the year end awards for SCCA and I'm getting one so I kinda have to be there.

It is Jan 17th at lake Sturgeon, wherever that is!
|
it's on a lake about 30 minutes from Hibbing.
from the cities, it's a 2.5-3 hour drive to hibbing |
here's directions
The race is held on Big Sturgeon Lake, about 20 miles north of Hibbing. You can access the lake from the south end at Sixberry's Landing, or on the east side at McCarthy's Beach State Park (Vehicle permits are required for the state park entrance). From Hibbing take Hwy 169 north towards Chisholm, turn north on Hwy 5 towards Side Lake. From Hwy 5 you can follow the signs to McCarthy beach aprox 17 miles, when you get to the park, turn left (towards the swimming beach and boat landing) when you go down the boat landing the race is to your left (west), there will be a plowed road to the race, aprox 1/2 mile. The other option is Sixberry's Landing, go north on Hwy 5 aprox 15 miles turn left on Greenrock Road, take that about 3 miles across one bridge and just before the second bridge you come to Sixberry's landing right on the lake. There will be a plowed road from there, it is about 1 mile thru a long bay before you get to the big lake, when you hit the big lake take the road to the right along the south shore, you can see the race from there. It is a lot easier than it sounds, if you get to Side Lake and get lost just ask anybody for directions, most people know about the race. |
Is it gonna even be cold enough.
|
I was in Hayward this past week and theres about 12" of ice on the lake... so enough up there I would think.
