Who has used Redline Shockproof fluid in their Transfer case?

I put the Redline Shockproof in last night and man is this stuff thick!! It's a bright reddish pink and to me is just about like a red latex paint. The viscosity has to be incredible. I just want to make sure its safe to use in the transfer case in our cars. I can't remember who recommended it but i think it was someone on here.

Thanks.

I know that most people who use Redline use two quarts of MT-90 and one quart of MTL. Mix them together and fill up the tranny. Use the leftovers to fill the transfer case. You should have enough to do both with 3 quarts. I have only heard of the Shockproof being used in the rearend mostly, rarely ever in the transfer case.

I have it in my car. There are a ton of guys on NABR that run it and swear by it. I only have 450 break-in miles on mine, so I can't give much of an opinion on it. It is a 75w90 fluid (same as tranny) yet protects like a 75w250 according to Redline. There are a lot of Subbie guys using this in trannies and having good results.

Re: Who has used Redline Shockproof fluid in their Transfer case?

Thanks for the links Dsmstyle.

I did that mix for the tranny, 2 of MT90 and 1 of MTL. Somebody told me to use the Shockproof heavy for the t-case so i did. I put in about 1.1 pints.

In one of those links, apparently someone had a direct quote not to use Heavy Shockproof in the rear diff. Something about not having the lubricants in it to handle daily driving and to use for race only. The t-case would be just as important as the rear diff so i don't know why they didn't say not to run it in there.

JET- you had some postings in some of those threads. Have you ran it in the t-case on a daily driver without problems? If not, i'm gonna drain it and put regular gear lube in it.

I have the shockproof in my t-case and rear end, feels smoother at hard launches than before. I would recommend heavily. Also daily drove it for a while too with no issues.

Absolutely Love the stuff. Since switching to Redline Products No more broken Tranny's. Stutter Box launch's and NLTS with out Fear. (Knock on Wood!!!)

I'm currently trying to find a place that sells the stuff down here. Otherwise I'll have to have it shipped from MN.

Yeah, i'm sure you're loyal to your MN people for buying stuff. I got mine throught JEGS. Thanks for the input Brian. Do you use the Shockproof Heavy in the t-case AND the rear diff or just t-case? I guess there is a light Shockproof too. So do you use light or heavy and in which?

Wasn't that the cause of Ryan burning up the T-case in his evo last year?

BTW, I would say that 99% of the broken trannies are due to user error (mishifting). I got my talon with a bad 2nd. Swapped it with a good tranny (had bad 3rd). I have used what ever I can find at checker and have not had a problem with any tranny in any of my dsms. One car I sold, the new owner broke the shift fork within 2 days. I shift hard (on the gas, NLTS off as it drops revs too much, and slam it into gear as quick as possible) and it was fine for me. The other 1% is due to too much power like shane shearing gears off. I do not believe in a miracle fluid to keep tranies glued together. But then again, I also think that the brand of oil doesn't matter if the API rating is the same.

1 day, it also threw a rod. and then got ran over by a jeep, and is now scrap metal.

Re: Who has used Redline Shockproof fluid in their Transfer case?

I run the Heavyduty shock proof in the transfer case and rear diff of both cars. Haven't had one break yet.

I am going to try a thicker, worse shifting mix of fluids in my next tranny. The Redline mix shifted fine, but 4th gear went pretty early.

Thanks Shane. Thanks to all the great input, i'm keeping it in there. It was just freaky at first. It looks like a cheap grade of latex paint.

Re: Who has used Redline Shockproof fluid in their Transfer case?

The other fluids I tried wrecked the syncro's really quickly. Hense why it becomse user error when you misshift. (ie: no syncro's = no shift). I drove my car with the stuff for almost a full year. with no problems.

I used Shock proof in the Rear. and Transfer Case. the MTL-90 mix in the Tranny.

Re: Who has used Redline Shockproof fluid in their Transfer case?

Yeah Brian. I don't know if you burned more tranny's than i have but i went through 4 of them in the old GST. Each time was with GM Synchromesh. Currently i have the oil setup the same as you except for the rear only because i haven't gotten to it yet.

Thanks.
