UGH!!! |
Re: Closing of MN Government
Nice double topic.
That sucks about the government closing though... |
Re: Closing of MN Government
Is it... oops! Sorry, delete plz.

Re: Closing of MN Government
fixed
The government is shut down until they can all come to an agreement on the budget. Did you not hear about this last week? The MN DMV will not be open until everything is agreed upon, along with many roadside rest areas, and other area's of the government I could really care less about. |
Re: Closing of MN Government
How long is it estimated to take?

They can just leave it closed and gimme back my $400 a month I give them for absolutly nothing in return. BTW, Sears is still open for tabs, transfers etc....... After all what do "they" really give us back for the BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars we throw at them each year? Us working folks are getting ROBBED each and every paycheck period! I give the Govener 100% props for trying to keep our taxes from being the highest in the nation, and thereby keeping businesses and jobs from moving away to ANY other lower taxed state! People need to quit winning about the availablity of the 1 or 2 things that the state requires only the state to do, and just back the Govener right now so our local business economy does't get jacked longterm. IMHO......Rant...... |
Re: Closing of MN Government
Yeah, this puts a damper in me sellin gmy car as well. I know there are other forms of paperwork yo ucan use if the title is still in transition but you still need an open office ot get it. Sucks for alot of people in many ways.

Re: Closing of MN Government
Didn't this happen in Minnesota a few years back also?
|
Re: Closing of MN Government
No, this is the first time in MN history this has happened. At least that was what was reported on a few radio and news channels.
|
Re: Closing of MN Government
I had heard the DMV was still open. Just certain parts of it had closed down. Like you can still go and renew your license, but if you are someone who is getting your very first license, then you are SOL because they closed that part of it down.

Re: Closing of MN Government
I love the fact that when they don't come to an agreement, and now that everythings shut down, the people that can't agree are still getting payed, I think there pay should get cut, speed things up a bit....
|
Re: Closing of MN Government
If anything that should get cut first would be the over abundance of office workers at the goverment buildings, all of their secretaries (ie their lovers) should be laid off instead of laid on.
instead they shut down the general low lvl workers who barely make 25 to 40k / year and let the 50 to 80k / year go home with pay. how fair is that, paid vacation for some and not paid for others. -e |
Re: Closing of MN Government
I think AAA has some DMV services as well. I'm pretty sure you can transfer titles and get tabs there. Or at least they used to do that. I think there's an office in Burnsville off of 35W and Burnsville Parkway.

Re: Closing of MN Government
My dad's wife works in the court downtown. She told me that the dmv services there are still operational. But the testing booths are closed so first time licenses are unavailable. But tags, all that crap is still available.

Re: Closing of MN Government
So if I buy a used car right now, I can't get the title transfered?
|
Re: Closing of MN Government
She told me the downtown office is still open, but she can't speak for the suburb offices. Just give them a call and ask them!

the fact is, you are not getting robbed, taxes are too low to support these government items. they're so low, in fact, that pawlenty himself is trying to scrounge up money in other places, like toll roads, higher cigarette taxes, and state run gambling outfits. "no new taxes" should really say, "move your taxes around and try to hide them from you". the BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars you spend enables the state to pay contractors to resurface roads, build new highways, and perform general maintainence, to name ONE area your money is used for. I assume you like cars and driving, since you are on this site, so, could you do with trees growing through your roads and pot holes the size of your car? not me. |
