My new bike
Well, I decided to go out and buy a new bike the other day. '05 Specialized Sirrus. It's basically a commuter bike. It has alot of road bike components on it, but it uses the flat handle bars, and has more of a mountain bike stance. It's pretty sweet. It's alot better than a mountain bike for cruising around on the streets, which is why I bought it. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. It has a solid front fork, which makes it a little rough on bumpy roads, but it isn't too bad. The thing I really like about it is how fast it is on the street, compared to a mountain bike, with knobby tires.
Anyway, just thought I would share. I'll have some pics up later. Does anyone else here like to bike? I also have an '01 Specialized Rockhopper, that I like to use on the trails, but it just wasn't meant to for the street. *edit* Here's a pic from the website. http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/...rrus_Blk_l.jpg |
Re: My new bike
Nice bike! I was going to buy a bike this year from a co-worker, but I was too small for it. I would still like to get into biking & do more this year, but I think it's gonna have to wait another year.

Re: My new bike
Very sweet. I know Jana was looking to get a bike a month or so ago and I will probably get one with Jana when the Talon sells. It would be nice to get out a bike more on top of roller skating.

Re: My new bike
We started rollerblading lately. I haven't ridden a bike in a long time.

Re: My new bike
I totally thought you meant a crotch rocket. I used to have a specialized bike. They are pretty nice.

Re: My new bike
There are really nice paths around Lake Calhoun that Jenny liked rollerblading around. Nice and smooth pavement, and there's 2 or 3 sidewalks, so you aren't bumping into bikers or running over joggers. Plus, the view of the lake is nice.

Re: My new bike
I do alot of my riding around the lakes. Harriet and Calhoun seem to be the best that I've seen. The trails are nice and smooth, and they have a one way trail dedicated to bikes and roller bladers. I went up around lake of the isles one time, and the trails were really choppy and needed to be repaved. The great thing about living in Minneapolis, is that I can just hop on the trail, and it's about 2 miles from my house to Harriet. I can make a few laps and then head back. I don't have to load up the bike, drive there etc. I'm just a few blocks from Minnehaha (sp?) creek, so it works out pretty nice. If you get a nice day, there's usually some good "scenery" on the trails too. ;)
