Pat Tillman Remembered
Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Hippy, or Communist, I truly hope you take a second and think about freedom after watching this video: http://www.big-boys.com/articles/pattillman.html

Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
He's just another person who gave up the good life for the cause... You know damn well that there are other people just like him who have fallen.
|
Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
I agree. However, a video like this involving a name in which more than the average number of citizens recognize helps to reiterate the meaning of freedom. It's just unfortunate that men and women have to die for their country for so many people to wake up and at least notice many of their surroundings.

Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
I think Matt is right about others who have done the same and have not been as publicly praised as Pat, but I honestly think Pat was probably the only one on "his" level that gave it all up and then actualy die for his country. Die of friendly fire at that.
I think the fact that he gave up playing a game he loved for millions a year to go risk is life in armed combat is something that you probably won't see again for a long long time, if ever. |

I agree, and Pat also gave up family as well as everyone else who has done the same. I think the biggest difference is those who have died before and will die after usually are in the situation as a choice they made when they joined the services. For someone who was already out of any special service obligation and was in a position to make millions and just give it up to go back in the mix isn't someone a normal us military guy might do.
Everyone in the services has my respect, and I don't give Pat anymore respect than anyone else who has fought our battles. I just think Pat situation is elevated not only due to his "celebrity/pro athlete" status, but for the situation he was put in and the choice that he made relevent to that status. |
Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
Great video. A friend of mine leaves today to head back to the sandbox after a couple weeks at home. He now leaves his new fiance, friends, and family behind. Say a prayer for all our soldiers. Also, says thanks to any soldier you may see, they did a job you didnt want to. A virtually "thankless" job.

Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
This war is bull.
Every single soldier in that crap hole on the other side of the world should be at home. Screw those middle eastern countries they can continue to kill each other for all eternity as far as I'm concerned. Don't say a damn word to me about having no respect or not supporting my country I have been in the army for 5 years and my unit spent the last year in Iraq. |
Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
So your basically saying that no soldier over there should or does believe in the 'cause' or believes he/she should be there? But I agree that this war is stupid and a lot of American lives have been lost and there will be a lot more to come.

Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
Yes I am saying I'm a democrat.
I know for certain there are people who believe in the cause, but I'm not exactly certain what that cause is...and I'm not saying people shouldn't believe in it, anyone can believe whatever they want. There is always more than one way to solve a problem and you can often never know which way will work better until you just pick one and go with. I don't want to start a big fight cuz politcal fights never go anywhere. This is just my opinion and I'm just putting it out there. |
Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
Didn't Tillman die fighting in Afghanistan? How is that war bull? That is one of the most justified wars in history IMO.
|
Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
BTW They're not fighting for a "cause", they're fighting for their country.

Re: Pat Tillman Remembered
Since when is it bad to be a democrat? I dont want to start a huge flame fest but i hear everyone saying on this site how its so bad to be a democrat. Whatever happened to voting for what you believe in instead of voting based on party lines. If you vote entirely on the side of a republican your no longer unique, your just one of the stupid people Blindly following people that dont exactly know whats best for YOU. I absolutly Dispise Bush but you dont see me hating every republican. I truely believe that if everyone one day said "hey im just gonna say Fuck Party Affiliations, im going to vote for who i want to win" then we would be FAR more advanced of a culture.
So next time you say something like that Peter, just remember, you just told everyone that you are a Mindless follower, cattle if you will, and you will never be a leader. |
