This is the tentative schedule for next season. Dates are subject to change. This is what the comp board is going to present to the Board of Directors tomorrow nite.
February 15-----------Treadin' Thin Ice March 14---------------Luck 'O The Irish April 4------------------TaxBreak May 23-----------------Spring Fever June 20----------------June Bug July 11-----------------Dog Daze of Summer August 22--------------Triple Caution!!! September 19---------Harvest Moon October 3--------------Oktoberfest October 31-------------Dirty Jack 'O Lantern They are still working on which venues, but it will be much more organized this next season. We have 4 to choose from (Princeton, Arkansaw WI, Corcoran, and Donovan Motorsports complex in Rochester) so we should have a good variety. We added one new one (in February) to get 10 this year. I'm not sure how many they are going to count for the championship. All events are eligible for points. Of course, you have to be an SCCA member to be eligible for a trophy at the end of the season. But you can still walk away with a trophy from the individual events if you are not an SCCA member. DSMStyle members walked away with quite a few trophies from individual events, including Mark's (E*Thug) win over Mr. Utecht at Corcoran. They are going to be doing the day of the event schedule a little bit differently this coming season. This is how it breaks down: 9:30am - 11:00am ----Registration 9:45am - 11:15am ----Tech inspection ~10:30am - 11:30am -Course ready for walking 11:30am - ? ------------Driver's meeting ? - ? --------------------Morning Runs 20 Minutes --------------Midday Break ? - ? --------------------Afternoon Runs Some of the specifics about the schedule: Registration will be open ONLY during the scheduled time. Tech inspectors will be in one spot. This means you have to take your car to the tech inspector. They are going to try to have the course setup for walking by 10:30 so everyone can get out and walk it. There is no one allowed out on the course while the driver's meeting is taking place. If you are halfway thru walking the course when the driver's meeting is called, you have to stop and go over to where the driver's meeting is being held. So basically, if you haven't walked the course by 11:15, get your butt out there and start walking. Driver's meetings are MANDITORY!! If you don't attend, you don't race, period. This doesn't mean you have to go home, it just means you have to be there for the whole meeting, beginning to end. The reason for this is so everyone knows what's going on. Then we don't have to answer a hundred questions about things that were covered in the driver's meeting. After the driver's meeting, the first run group will line up immediately. As you can see there is no set times for runs. We did this so that there is some flexibility depending upon course conditions, run group sizes, etc. There will be a 20 minute break in the middle (again not a scheduled time but a scheduled amount of time) for people to eat and such. Trophies will be awarded after the runs have been compiled. They will run Fun Runs until the trophies are ready to be handed out. Everyone that competes are required to work. Whether it be cone counting, timing and scoring, etc. we need all competitors working to make things run smoothly. There are some more rule changes that I can't remember right off hand but I will post them up when I find out about them. Basically we want people to be prepared when they come to the rallycross. That way we're not holding up the show because there are a few people that couldn't get things ready beforehand. |
erik is the donovan one the same one in rochester as last year? im might have to go for htat one again
|
Yep. That's the one you raced this year. They went thru there and leveled everything out and packed it down so it should be better this upcoming season.
We are still on the look out for more venues. Flat, level fields are about the best for the course to hold up to the pounding it takes from the racing. That's why Arkansaw holds up so well for us. The root structure holds everything together well. |
Honestly I am turned off from the local Rally cross series after this last event and how it was just a mess.
I know safety is a big issue, but changing up the course every damn time something seems wrong ruins everything for me in terms of compitition being fair. I am not even going to join SCCA anymore. But not having a car took care of that. |
i am definately up for that one, see if you guys can find another in that area and ill go twice :jammin:

You have to understand that this last rallycross was a fluke thing. If we would've held it out in Arkansaw we wouldn't have had that problem. There was nothing to hold the soil together.
Believe me, this was a big topic of discussion at the meeting last nite. We agreed that the only time that we would do a course change in the middle of the run group would only be if it poses a risk of rollover or other serious problem. We are going to take a more Pro-active approach this season towards course integrity. We are going to try to fix problems before they become big problems. This would involve raking the corners, moving a corner out before it ruts to much (betweens run groups), etc. Corcoran and Princeton are the only places that this becomes a major problem. And this last rallycross was truly something different. When we raced out there a month before, the course held up great. Once it got wet this time, all we did was dig. Everything that is done to change the course is ONLY done for safety. It's for the insurance purposes. We are trying to make it more enjoyable this season. Maybe I'll have the CRX ready with a cage and I'll let you run that for some of the races. I just need to get to work on it this winter. Maybe I'll even make it AWD and turbo'd. |
I will have to see. I doubt I will run next year for time reason alone, and I really want to not have to worry about breaking someone elses ride.
|
Believe me, I would be happy to find out what will break with it so I can be more prepared for what will happen out in the woods. Or maybe it will become a dedicated, caged rallycross car. Then it can be beat to shit and not worry about what happens.

I'd be all over it if I didn't work. :headache:

I'll probably be there. Don't know if I'll be competing but I will help out.

Youv'e got to quite working weekends. I used to hate it when I would be stuck in model homes on Sat and Sun missing everything going on.
I might be there. I am watching my nephew this weekend. Where going to Monster Jam on Sat. I don't now if he would be able to handle two days of that much excitement. I'll just have to see. |
not going to make this one. i'll be building tercels all weekend up north got three of the damn things to put together. oh fun. hopefully the snow is off my roads so i can take some long work breaks.
|
At least you won't be breaking Honda's this weekend!!! :razz2:
I won't be able to make it this weekend though. I'm on call and I don't have the talon back together yet (waiting on the valve lash adjusters to come in that I ordered last nite). |

|
