Throttle body boost leak
So I have a boost leak that is coming from the gaskets on the throttle body. Would it be stupid to just put some RTV on around the outside where the gaskets are?

Yes!

Re: Throttle body boost leak
You could try it but it will be ugly and might not work. I used rtv instead of a gasket before and it worked fine but it would be best to just replace the gasket as they aren't hard to replace.

Re: Throttle body boost leak
Some of the reason our car get a bad rap for being unreliable, is people half assing things like this IMOP.

Re: Throttle body boost leak
It probably isn't much of a leak around there. I wouldn't worry about it. If it is big, there are some o-rings or also gaskets you can buy to put in there. The gaskets are a bit better, but harder to find.

Re: Throttle body boost leak
From what I can tell it doesn't seem to be a very bad leak thats why I didn't really want to replace the gaskets but I probly will rather than doing something the ricer way.

What else are you talking about. Nobody can say anything about you because you never had a car that ran right? |

I'm guessing that if it had been leaking for some time, one more day of a little leak probably wasn't going to hurt anything... |

MD340327 inlet elbow side of TB
MD192535 intake mani side of TB Both are available from Mitsu. Spray copper coat and put them on. No leaks. ;) |
