PTE 50 Trim and an engine with 105k on it

Anyone have ne idea's on how long you think before my stock engine will last when i put in my new turbo and run around 17 psi? Remember it has about 105k on it. Thinkning of rebuilding the thing before it breaks down, sometime by the end of the summer.

Treat the engine right with good fluids and proper tuning and it'll give you many more miles of service.

why use a 50 trim if your only running 17 psi? it will be fine though for awhile..

that well within the engines abilities.

i don't see much more than 300whp out of a 50 trim and 17psi.

the engine will probly laugh at you :)

Because 17psi on a 50-trim makes more power than 17psi on a 14B or 16G. I have one customer making 342whp on a PTE 50-trim at 17-18psi. You would be lucky to make 300whp at 18psi on a 16G.

Yeah, that combo should be fine if you keep the oil changed. You won't be working it hard at all.

Dam!!! That sure gives me some hope for my PTE 50trim, once i get the dam thing going in a couple weeks here. What would that same customer be running for hp at say 22-25psi?

how the hell is he running 342 whp at 17psi? that's amazing, what other mods did the dude have? makes me feel alot better about buying my new 50 trim!

So know i have 2 50 trims, does anyone have ne idea how long they last for, especially if your running only 17-18 psi on it? cuz i have 2 now, one completely blown and needs rebuilding> and i was wondering should i rebuild it and hold onto it or should i just sell it to get back some of the money i was scammed out of? also, how much u think a rebuilt 50 trim would sell for> the one that needs rebuilding is hoaged out and is made for an internal wastegate - o2 housing but not with dumptube. .60ar compression and stage 3 wheel> ne ideas how much its worth?

Re: PTE 50 Trim and an engine with 105k on it

The reason he is making that much power on a 50 trim at that boost level is because a 50 trim is really efficient (on pump gas especially). And if you do a compressor map for the 50 trim with the 2.0L 4g63 it is almost a perfect fit.

In my opinion if you are building a 'daily' driven DSM 2.0L turbo that you want to have good power on pump gas but not be all that laggy then the 50 trim is the way to go in my book. Now if you have a 2.4 like a lot of people do now a 50 trim would be like having a 16G on 2.0L. It would have amazing spool up but I am not sure how it would flow on the top end. I haven't seen or anybody running anything that small on a 2.4 yet though. Maybe Jim (TalionFiero) is though unless he got something bigger.

CRAIG

He has a 2G, so it is 8.5:1 compression, which helps a little. He also has a huge AMS FMIC kit, HKS 272s, a 1G throttle body, and a Magnus sheetmetal intake manifold. The car isn't half assed together, so that is usually worth a bit more HP. He hasn't run race gas, so I don't know what it would make at 22-25psi yet. A friend of mine with a T3/T4 50-trim, HKS 272s, Skyline FMIC cored kit that me and him made, stock 2G intake manifold made 329whp at something like 18psi. We were have bad knocking problems though, couldn't push the boost any higher on pump gas, he got some shit gas on his drive to Minnesota. We drained the tank and put race gas in and made 403whp at around 23psi.

that's insanely awesome to hear for some reason, this guy that you know i'm hoping to do almost the same set-up, i want a magnus but i'm told to just put in the 1g intake manifold that i have for now. i have the smaller Greddy 18r, and i was thinking later on in the future getting a big intercooler just because>> plus, it looks sick as hell! i'm happy as hell hearing about that dude with his 50trim. thanks for the reply, makes me feel better about paying 965.00 for it!

Don't get your hopes up too high. Most people don't pull numbers like that, but if you get the right parts and put the car together correctly, you should get some decent numbers.

don't worry about getting my hopes up, i've heard enough horror stories from you guys about shit breaking, this car is my pride and joy, i try to give it the best that i can give and finding the right parts for it is all i'm about, that's why i've been posting so much lately, just trying to get info fast so i know, don't worry, i've toned down a lot on the threads and reply's, i'm just excited as hell for friday to show up, date i get the car back from shindley. thanks for the help

Don't rebuild the 7 bolt if you are worried about it lasting. It
could crankwalk. Who knows your motor isn't walking right now. Both of my 2g's were walking along with one of my friends.

Re: PTE 50 Trim and an engine with 105k on it

Don't rebuild it. Throw in a 6 bolt when the other goes and call yourself set. If you are set on a rebuild, rebuild a 6 bolt. Don't waste your time with another 7 bolt.
