As far as I know, they won't say a whole lot too you. Other than that it's illegal. But they should do the work for you. Most shops...other than like aftermarket shops, their policy is that they won't tamper at all with your cat. They wont take it off, adjust it, shit like that. But other than that, I don't think they'll give you a hard time.

They won't do anything. They won't care if you have it or not.
|
Not a problem, just remember that it is illegal, carries huge fines, and not running emissions equipment is for 'off road' use only.
|
Anyone know the fines for running no cat? I have a 3" exhaust with an o2 dump. Never had a problem. Also, a shop installed the o2 housing for me. I know the guy though. Nobody has ever said anything to me about the cat. You will have to install it yourself though as nobody wants the liability.

Something crazy like $5000. It is a federal offense.

That's why i believe in a high flow cat. It saves you and the shop doing the work. By law a shop can't even pull off a working CAT to put on a aftermarket one. And if your going to a dealer for a TBelt job your gonna pay a lot more than going to a perforamce shop.

I just got my Apexi N1 offroad pipe and catback on recently. If asked, I will say it came on the car like that.
|
No, im not brining it to a dealer. Just a local mechanic. When i first got the car my oil pressure sending unit went bad and had to get it replaced. Brought it there and he seemed on the up and up and did the work at a fair price. I just hope i can trust them to do my T belt. He commented when i picked it up if i knew when the Tbelt had been changed last, but i didnt. The guy i bought it from said it had gotten a new turbo just a bit ago and the belt looked new, so i decided just to wait tell the end of winter.

Yup, you got it. You are responsible for what you drive as well.

Just change your timing belt yourself; saves you money, learn more about your car, and you know of everything that's been ghettofied in your car (or none at all if you're careful not to lose any bolts).
