Bleeding the Clutch

When do I bleed the clutch? Is it after I have everything in and ready to go or right after I get the tranny and clutch in? I'm to the point there all I have left to hook up is the air filter and plastic intake pipe...will this be a good time to bleed the clutch? I've never bled witnessed the clutch being bled out before, so I'm not sure the first time is going to be so successfull. I hope this will solve my problem.

Doesn't really matter when you bleed it, as long as everything clutch related is assembled.Make sure you continuously check the fluid level in the master, it doesn't take much bleeding to suck it dry, then you'd have to start all over again

Anyone know of a good site that shows how to properly bleed the clutch? I've been to vfaq and it tells how, but I just want some more info before I actually attempt it.

Re: Bleeding the Clutch

Pedal down, open bleeder, close bleeder, pump pedal, check fluid level, repeat.Just make sure the clutch pedal is all the way down anytime the bleeder screw is open and you'll be fine

Re: Bleeding the Clutch

When you no longer see air bubbles coming out the bleeder, usually about 4-5 times will take care of it

Re: Bleeding the Clutch

If this is a 2G, you should do it about 6-7 times, the 2Gs have an accumulator in the clutch line.

Yea just do that until the pedal feels nice and hard, it shouldnt feel mushy at all.
