VR4 top speed.

I dont know much about vr4s, but I heard from a few people that they've topped out at 180 or so. (I didnt believe them). But yeah, whats the top speed on these cars? Just need a quick answer.

Galant or 3000gt? Neither will get close stock though.

172, 175, speedo indicated. That was with mbc, filter, gutted cats.
Factory they will do around 155mph in 4th (5spd) and slow down when shifting into 5th gear. They are geared to over 200mph, and a few have gone there with turbo upgrades.
galant vr4? lol, good luck hitting 145 stock.

Yeah, that was with your 13" Dayton gold spokes on though. That will throw the speedo off a bit! :p

Re: VR4 top speed.

I forgot there were two kinds of vr4s, haha. I'm talking about the 3000gt. I was on cardomain and read this guy's page and he was talking about all sorts of weird gadgets on these cars, like the handling stepping up a level once you reach a certain mph. Or the front low spoilers extracting at another mph range and the rear spoiler tilting itself at over 70, for more down force. Do they actually have these or is that guy just dumb. I wouldnt know, but it caught my eye when I read his page. I always thought they were just regular cars with no electronic stuff like that.

The 300GT VR4 had that aero package as an option. Mainly it was just a marketing ploy and didn't do much. It also added weight.

Re: VR4 top speed.

My car came with: electronically controlled exhaust (electric potato), electronically controlled suspension (good thing, switchable under push button, also under extreme handling conditions it would 'firm up'), digital a/c control/display, 4ws, abs, power all, etc.
The 3000gt's also had the active aero, doesn't work all that well, and since the banana spoiler is the most aerodynamically proven one (or so I've heard) kind of a waste.
fun cars, heavy as hell, but fun.

Re: VR4 top speed.

The active exhaust is garbage, but everthing I've read, including first hand accounts and mitsu reports, indicates that the rear spoiler does increase downforce when it's tilted.

And yes 180 is reasonable with the right mods. I clocked a max speed of 169.6 on my stealth via GPS with the same basic mods as Swanny.

There's defintely a lot of gadgets in a 3S. Why do you think they're so heavy? ;)

I've recently realized that I enjoy driving my 1G DSM with a 16G on the street and to work a lot more then my Stealth. And I think the reason is that a 3S doesn't feel like it's fast until you're doing triple digits (which I don't really hit in rush hour). The 3S just isolates you from the road so much better and you have a lot more confidence in the handling, it makes it a boring street car unless you're foolish enough to constantly run at twice the speed limit.

On the other hand 80mph in my 1G feels fast (a lot has to do with the crappy tires and worn out suspension). The 16G is laggy (comparitively) and hits all at once, where the small little turbos in the stealth and the extra torque make power delivery a lot smoother and less noticable then being thrown back when the 16G hits. Plus the weight difference is really noticable when driving the two back to back.

lol, i've noticed the same with the auto im rockin now.
It 'feels' fast cause its a lot well, less of a car when it comes to high end. Speeds actually feel 80mph when you traveling at it, instead of the 30mph it feels like in the stealth.
That car wasn't 'exciting' unless you were sliding through a corner at 2x the speed or cruising along the highway at 140+mph.
