tranny problem
i just bought a 91 gst last night and it runs perfect! The only problem is the automatic tranny, it acts like its stuck in a high gear, does not down shift. When accelerating from a stop it acts like a slipping clutch slowly getting speed. I had the car doing 65 and it was still at 3-3500 rpms as thats where it engages from a stop. anyone know how to fix this? The tranny fluid is a nice clear red color and non burnt smelling also. thanks!

Re: tranny problem
Sounds like you need a new TCU.
Go here to help diagnose your problem: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/ Look at the pulling your TCU codes. A TCU code will not throw a CEL, btw. In other words, your transmission has gone into 'fail safe' or 'limp home' mode. Meaning you have an electrical problem. Wiz |
Re: tranny problem
Make sure the TCU is plugged in all the way as well. Just because its not working doesn't mean its bad. The TCU is located right by the ECU, make sure everything is seated correctly. If it is then yes its probably bad.
