Turbo Question
 

I was wondering does anyone know do all 16g's come with internal waste gates? I am looking at some turbos and some say they have them and some do not say if the do. If anyone knows that would be great.

I believe that all MHI turbos do: 13g, 14b, 16g, Big16g, evo3 16g, 18g, 20g, etc.

(these are all the typical dsm applications)

Those are also mitsu turbos. You can run them all without an internal wastegate though. Most 14bs, 13gs, and 16gs come with an internal wastegate. So the answer is no. The turbo could have been converted to an external setup or puchassed without one possibly. Just ask the person. There is a guy selling one in the classifieds section now.

Don't forget that not all 16g's were on DSMs. SRT4 has a version as does some other apps. I've seen a diesel generator and forklift built by Mitsu. that used 16g turbos with no wastegate at all.

From what I've ever read, 16s automatically come internally gated. Although I'm sure you could swap it over to an external gate without major issues. Leon Reitman took a 14B and ran it with an external gate (even though Iceman publically called him a dumbass for doing it).
