I have a line on an EVO for dirt cheap?
 

I found a kid that will sell me his 2003 Yellow Evolution 8. It is in need of a motor and he would sell it to me for a lot less than book value. It was supposedly not refill with oil at the dealership and they won't fess up to it and he doesn't seem like he wants to pursue it any longer so now it is for sale. My question is, How much could you rebuild one of those motors for, the dealership says it just needs main bearings, but I'm sure I would replace more than just those. Is a stroker kit cheap to do? If anyone could give me some insight on this since I have a many ford/domestic background that would be great. Thanks guys.

Not filled with oil at the dealer, right. He beat the living piss out of it and his warranty claim was denied because of abuse. It's probably worth $15K with a blown engine. Expect about $5000 in repairs without knowing exactly what's wrong with it.

I know of this same Evo, its been in a wreck too.
Seemed like a great price till the motor blew.

I would guess if it needs main bearing, it also needs a new crank.
