BS Eliminator
What is should I do? Im putting a 6 bolt in my 2g, im going with just a simple rebuild kit from slowboy and pretty much new everything. I having a hard time desiding what to do about he Balance shaft. Should I just leave it stock or should i do the VFaq bs eliminator(mirrage parts). I need like someone with some experience with this to help me out.
Thanks, Mike |
Re: BS Eliminator
Get rid of the balance shafts, less parasitic drag and one less thing to break.

Re: BS Eliminator
Take them out.

Re: BS Eliminator
Sure you want to go with Slow Boy on all that shit? Last car I saw wither their rebuild kit was spending money replacing those parts.
|
Re: BS Eliminator
Definitely pull them. I've seen what can happen to a block if one of the shafts spins a bearing, not a good sight.

Supposedly all of the Slowboy rebuild parts are actually Topline parts. |

Yeah I know. |
Re: BS Eliminator
He just wants a STOCK rebuild, is Topline that bad? Or are those mishaps due to install errors? And Blageo23 wants to know what would be the best method to remove the shafts?

Re: BS Eliminator
YES TAKE THEM OUT!!! or else you will get "OWNED" like i did, i'll put pictures up as soon as i get my camera working.

Re: BS Eliminator
So what the best way to do so? Vfaqs????
|
Re: BS Eliminator
The DSM VFAQ on doing it has all the OEM factory part numbers to do the BS elim.
|
Re: BS Eliminator
Topline is junk. Definately don't buy that, and yes take out the balance shafts.
|
Re: BS Eliminator
WTF! Why is topline junk? Personal experience? Im not looking to have 600hp. I just want a simple rebuild. And I dont have a million dollars to spend. Whats another way I could do it? And yes ok i got it ill take out he balance shafts but how? Whats the best way?

Re: BS Eliminator
Agreed.....the balance shafts FAQ (www.vfaq.com) explains it very well with pics. I have always used the 'kit' or the factory 1.6L stuff. Not only does it get rid of those pesky BS's that love to spin bearings or get old and wobbly and get all wallowed in your block (which hurts oil pressure BADLY), the infamous BS belt is often known for breaking sooner than the main TB and often gets caught up in the main TB and we all know what that means. So do yourself a favor, make your engine spin faster, make more oil pressure, make more hp and generally be more reliable......ditch those bad boys.
And as for the Topline stuff........there's just something about a COMPLETE rebuild kit for under $500. Most of the oil pumps alone are $200+ and pistons are $150-200. They must be cutting corners somewhere. Wiz |
Re: BS Eliminator
I was reading on DSMTuners and one of the post said that Pro Topline supplies Mitsubishi thus Pro Topline is OEM. If thats the truth then how can it be bad?
|
Re: BS Eliminator
just curious since i sell these parts for the b/s elim, how well does this work?
