New computer up and running
For those that remember me asking about my old computer taking a shit on me (no not literally) a couple weeks ago, I just ended up replacing it with something a little bit nicer. My cousin and I tried to resurrect the old Compaq by addinig the necessary memory to run XP. We got through 75% of the install and it froze up. Tried several more times still without any luck. So I opted to put 98 back on it for the time being and it wouldn't even run the restore disk to return itself back to normal. So after going crazy without a computer, I picked one up at a place called the 'Box Shop' right off of University by Arby's. It's a neat little shop with killer deals. I got a complete cpu minus hard drives for $250. It's 1.7GHz AMD processor with 256mb DDRRAM and a few other decent goodies. So far it's been 10X's better! Hopefully no more shitty problems.

Re: New computer up and running
General nanosystems is another great computer place off of university. I got my nice case with PS, MSI Motherboard, AMD xp 2800+ (i think it might be higher because i havent looked in a while) with the barton core, 512 DDR ram, 52x CD writer, ATI 256ddr graphics card, NIC card, and the 120 GB hard drive for like $700 about a year ago.
A week ago i got my Free 19" monitor from the World Cyber Games qualifiers. so now i have my Dual monitor setup. WOOT. |
Re: New computer up and running
Yea I built mine with parts from Nano and Microcenter. AMD 2600 XP 1gig ram blah blah. It runs quite nicely.
250 is a good deal for that computer though. Why didnt you just reformat the hardrive of your old box and reinstall 98? |

Re: New computer up and running
Dont use the restore disk. You should just boot to a disk and then do a C: and then a format c:, type Y and then let her rip. Then boot to a the 98 cd and it should work. Oh well or just throw it in a firepit :) and have fun with the new one.
