Tri-State Raceway Sets Oct 2nd 2005 Date for Import Event

I have been talking back and forth with Bill at Tri-State Raceway this winter about getting them to actually run and Import/Sport Comact event of some sort.

Tri-State Raceway ( www.tristateraceway.com ) is about 3.5 hours from the cities and is a VERY nice track. It's approx half hour east of Cedar Falls Raceway.

He has set a date of Sunday, Oct 2 2005.

As of right now the only details I know of is that there will be bracket racing and at least a quick 8 class. Chances are they will have Test and Tune on the Sat before hand or one of their bigger class events for the Pro and Modified cars that compete there all season. This is very early in the planning and will get more info as it comes it. They have not decided on shop participation yet but if anyone is interested PM me.

They may also be up for some help with Tech if someone knows they would be able to help.

This isn't a DSM things and I will hit a few of the other boards once this gets offical and on their site. But This should be a DSM dominated event!

More info to come soon. Please don't clutter this up with much just yet. PM me with anything you might want to ask about.

I have continued contact with Bill and now it's time to find out who would be interested in helping and supporting this event.

They are interested in shop helping out with the event and if your interested please let me know either in here or via pm with any contact info I can give to Bill.

Also now feel free to post up anone who would be interested in racing in this event.

Tri-state is too far away for most of the shops on here to support it. AMS is much closer to the track an us. Aren't there a few shops in Iowa?

There's Import Evolution and Redefined Rides in the Waterloo area however from what I understand, Import Evolution really only markets products versus actual installs and Redefined Rides concentrates mostly on Avengers from what I understaned. There is Final Drive Performance in Des Moines along with The Turbo Trader (as we became familiar with in the Bullseye thread) however I believe both of them are also geared mostly towards marketing versus actual "shop work." There's probably some other "shops" across the state but I don't recall coming upon them. AMS and EngineTecs are closer to the track however from what I've ever come across, their only presence West of the Mississippi is with Jeremy Brandt and his cars along with Vassil's car. I would say that Elite and QPR, granted both are a fair distance away, could easily make the event worth while.

We might be there, if our cars are running and their isn't some other event going on that we have to goto the same weekend. But sponsoring it wouldn't be worthwhile since the people there will either the hardcore guys from around here that already know us, or locals to the track that won't want to travel 300 miles to a shop in the cities.

I'd be in, but if it's dominated by homo bracket racing like Import days at RF, I wouldn't waste the time. It'd be nice to finally qualify for a quick 8 at an event.

The Quick 8 would be heads up by the fastest 8. I don't think there would be any other way to have it done.

I am just waiting for Bill to get back to me on some more details but it's on their schedule and they want to make it a fun event. Since it's on a Sunday I know the drive back isn't the funest 3.5 hours but I think it's worth it for this event.

Update :

Right now it's either Quick 8 or Quick 16 depending on car times and amount entered.

Possible Mid 11s - Mid 12s heads up brakets dividied by half second intervals.

High 12s to high 14s or mid 15s (or up) dial in bracket classes.

More info to come this week on payout and trophies. There will be a contined test and tune lanes opened during the enter event for those that want to race still after losing a race in one of the classes.

It's low cost to race (20-30 has always been the top cost), and you always get alot of runs in.

More info to come shortly.
