Napster.
Anyone still use this at all. Some of you might have seen their new adds for a 7 day free trial to download music for free. I am trying it right now and even though it's more selective on who/what can be downloaded, I must say it's fucking awesome thus far during the free trial. I am in the middle of DLing just about every song I can think of for new releases without any issues. Never have to worry about incomplete files or waiting a long time for the wrong file under a name. I would recomend it to anyone who wanted to try it for a few days.

Re: Napster.
iTunes is just as good. Paying for music isn't all that bad, just as long as you get it in a format that you like.

Re: Napster.
I may have to try iTunes as well, but with this being so easy and only $9 a month we may keep it.

Kazza Lite Resurrection = FREE

Re: Napster.
So what happens after the free trial AJ? Are you automatically signed up for a year, does it charge you? What is the catch is what I am asking....

Re: Napster.
Matt - everything is in MP3 from what I can tell.
Mike - I have tried everything from Kazza, to mIRC, to soulseek. No longer like any of them. Napster won't DL the file if you already have it. So now I won't have 5 of the same file. All the files are named in the same format so now I can sort out the tunes by whatever I want as well. I guess spending a little in the long run won't be to bad, if we do it. See how the 7 days go by. Oh yeah, Napster's songs are on my computer in approx 30 seconds or less for a normal song with no waiting in ques. Me Liky! |
Re: Napster.
$9 a month. That's less than buying a new CD every month and a half. I'm gonna check that out when I get home.

Re: Napster.
If I had more drive space I'd actually try the free trial. :p

Re: Napster.
Winmx still works great for me.

Re: Napster.
I'm pissed at Napster. I bought a t-shirt off their website when they were still the "evil" stealer of copyrighted music. Now that they're all legit and shit, the t-shirt lost it's pizzazz. Boo.

Re: Napster.
Ok, I was looking at it, and you pay a certain amount per month, and then they charge you $0.80-$0.99 per song or $9.95 per album. Those are the starting prices. Does the free trial allow you to download music for free, or do you have to pay for the songs that you download? You can get Napster light and not pay a monthly fee, but it costs more per download for the songs.

Re: Napster.
The free trial lets you DL the songs for free. Also you only pay for the songs that you want to or tha don't have dl rights. But just with the 7 day tiral you should be able to get a shit load of tunes.

Re: Napster.
Can you get Metallica off Napster? I've been looking for a place to download them and a few other hard to get artists from free places. I'd be willing to pay for the music, I just want it in MP3 format.

Re: Napster.
Most of us have nothing to worry about. You really have to abuse it to even get noticed. Secondly don't share it. I know that sounds funny, but I've never heard of anybody going to court for downloading something given to them, only for extreme sharing of copyrighted music files.

Re: Napster.
I use iTunes occasionally, only for my iPod really. Other than that, I go on WinMX.
