2g walbro pump question

I took off the fitting at the pump and installed it, but I cant get the fiting to get back on far enough so it doesn't leak. I have to twist the hell out of the feed line and it still won't go on far enough. Is the feed line fitting supposed to be so the line turns with it? it seems as if it should be able to rotate on its own but it won't. I looked at vfaq and it said to remove the one under the car instead but that is because of the possibility of damaging the pump assembly. I got it of without doing so. Is the feed line fitting supposed to be able to rotate without the whole line rotating also? Shouldn't I be able to get it on?

No it should rotate with the line which is why they say to not try to unhook it up there, because you will be twisting the line so much you could damage it or the pump assembly, maybe you could try unhooking it under the car and then tightning it up top, then rehooking it up underneath.

Thats what I planned on doing if I couldn't get the line back on. I will take the assembly out, twist the assemble back on, udo the botom line and then do it. I wish I knew it needed to be done under the car before...
