HELP May have gotten riped off
 

So I was lookin on DSMtuners and found something I liked. So I talked to the guy and sent him the money. Then he sent me an email that said like whats takin the money order so long to get there. It was like 3 days later maybe 4. And hes like if I dont get the money by Sat. I have to let it go to someone else. So I emailed him back saying I sent the money out and it should be there blah blah blah. And now its like 2 weeks later and I got nothin. How do I go about getting my money back? I have sent him like 3 emails after that and no replys. GRRRR people piss me off!!! Can anyone help me cuz I dont know what to do.

Thats happened to me before. What you have to do is take the copy of the money order you have back to the bank and say you want to put a stop on it(hopping that its not yet been cashed). If its been cashed before you put a stop on it then, sorry nothing much you can do. GL

You should have done a COD. It costs a couple buck extra but you pay when you get the package delivered to your door.

I dont know what you can do besides trying to contact him.

It's a big pain in the ass... but since a verbal agreement in MN can be legally binding, you have e-mails, and it was on DSMTuners, you'd probably have some sort of case... But since it was such a small amount of money (not a car), you'd probably just be directed to small claims court.

Does DSMtuners have like a good guy bad guy type thing like Ive seen on here? I thought I have seen something like that on there but I cant find it.

Then you will probably end up paying for a box of random broken parts or rocks.

I always make sure to get a ton of information about someone before I do a transaction with them. 2 phone #'s, address, etc.

Yea, same here, I usually contact someone reputable from their area of the country and ask for background information.

People like that piss me off bad. There used to be a goodguybadguy.org site, but I don't think it works anymore. There is a site called Vendors-Reviewed.com that you can use now though instead. Hope everything works out for you.

Thats why it pays sometimes to buy part locally or from reputable shops. Cheaper isn't always better and sometimes 'good deals' are good deals for a reason. There is always someone out there that is trying to think of ways to fuck over the average consumer. Chalk it up as a lesson learned, there is not much you can do about it. If you have an address, send him a bomb in the mail.

I am the same way. I will first ask if they can send C.O.D. It only costs us about an extra $10. It takes them a little longer to get their money. Anything over $75 or $100 i will generally want to do the business outside of email with phone calls. For anything over that same amount I will generally ask if they can fax me a copy of their drivers license or utility bill of some sort. Also look at the domain name of thier email. If it's like a hotmail or yahoo account, it will be harder to track them, but if it's like jdoe@ibm.com, It would be easier to track them down. If they won't give you the information i listed above, do your business elsewhere. It's that simple.

Another you can do is ask them if they have an ebay account. Send a message to that account and see if they reply back to it. If they do, it is their account. Then look to see what kind of feedback they have.

For high dollar transactions, i'd highly recommend all of the above.
