MODS List
I know you've all been waiting for me to get off my ass (actually out of the driver's seat :p ) and write down my mods list.
Before anybody starts climbing the walls and starts saying there are things in this list you don't really need, they are there because I wanted them there and for my own reasons, so deal with it. :D Here it is; ENGINE: Magnus Motorsports Stage 4 1G 2.4 L 8.5:1 Long Rod short block (Ross/Pauter) Magnus Motorsports Stage 3 1G cylinder head (Supertech components, Cometic HP, ARP studs) Magnus Motorsports sheet metal intake Magnus Motorsports 1G/2G install kit HKS 272/272 cams Fidanza adjustable cam gears Concept Racing solid lash adjusters (16 of them, and yes they are a bitch to adjust) 1G external oil cooler/oil filter housing Setrab 119FP8 fan-pack oil cooler -8 braided stainless steel lines from housing to cooler and back Jaz mini breather catch can FUEL: Bosch -044 fuel pump (330 lph @ 75 psi) VPE big bore fuel rail Earls -8 1-way check valve @ inlet to the fuel rail FIC 1000cc Ball/Disc injectors Aeromotive A1000-6 1:1 AFPR Aeromotive 12301 fuel filter -8 braided steel line from the screen pick-up to the fuel rail -6 braided steel line from the fuel rail to the AFPR -4 braided steel line from the AFPR to the return line 1G throttle body/2G TPS Fuel pump re-wire w/10 gauge wire FUEL MANAGEMENT: DSMLink v2/2.5 client software MafTranslator v2.01 3.5 inch LS1 maf AEM UEGO wide-band controller w/add-on a/f gauge IGNITION: AEM C2DI Buschur Racing COP 93-94 Hall Effect CAS TURBO: DN Performance DNP-26 s/s tubular manifold VPE GT3056 GT/BB turbo (hopefully will become a GT35R soon) VPE external/internal s/s O2 housing Tial 40mm wastegate GReddy Type-s BOV GReddy Profec-b boost controller GReddy 24R FMIC and pipes Dejon Tools GM Maf intake pipe HRC lower turbo to intercooler pipe HRC upper intercooler/bov pipe Modded UICP going to Magnus intake TRANSMISSION: TRE race prepped transmission Speed Design 4-spider center diff Torrington bearing mod @ center diff 3-4 hub sleeve upgrade Cryo treatment on all hard parts CLUTCH: Clutch Masters 2500lb pressure plate Clutch Masters ceramic 4-puck sprung hub disc Clutch Masters billet aluminum flywheel w/steel face COOLING: Fluidyne radiator Fal Twin-line fans 160 deg thermostat EXHAUST: RSR 2.5 to 3 inch down pipe APEX-i N1 3 inch cat-back exhaust HRC super-duper high flow 3 inch cat I would like to thank Mike (Raptor), Shane (ecoli) and regardless of some problems, Marco (Magnus Motorsports "porn king") for their help in this build-up. I've talked to them all several times and they have been a great help everytime it was needed. -1ViciousGSX You can click on my home page below for more info and pics of my set-up, fuel system and oil cooler installation. If anybody would like the fuel system or oil cooler mods put into the "Good Stuff" forum I could write it up. Just let me know. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/225656/1 Now, back to the driver's seat |
Re: MODS List
-4 braided steel line from the AFPR to the return line
Seems small, but as long as you can set the pressure were you want, it doesn't matter. |

BTW, for those of you (and you know who you are) that 1 year ago said I was wrong about having my engine run cooler than stock and that it would never work, YOU WERE ALL WRONG AND I WAS RIGHT. I am cruising on the highway at 163 deg steady. With DSMLink set-up to add 20-25 deg to what the ECU sees, and with my fans coming on when needed, I do not get over 189 deg sitting in traffic. BTW, did I mention I WAS RIGHT? |
Re: MODS List
One thing that is not in the list is a wide-band O2 set-up. I'm currently looking at a couple of options. Anybody have any personnal experience with or recommend one?

wow, wish i had money!!

Re: MODS List
The PLX ones are pretty decent, we have a few customers running them and they have a pretty quick sampling rate and not that expensive. One thing i was going to suggest to you with the expensive new engine and turbo is an oil accumulator. For less than $300 it is probably a pretty smart investment, not only in the event of a unpredicted pressure loss, but just so you can pre-lube it. We are suggesting that to anyone we build an engine for now.

Re: MODS List
I have the OZ/techedge O2 sensor and I really like it. It is not very expensive and works well. At the time they were one of the only ones using the VW sensor, but now there are a bunch. It works great with my AEM.

Re: MODS List
That's a big list.......

Re: MODS List
Yeah, that's a big expensive list. Congrats Mike :D I hope (and pray) it runs long enough for you to make it to the track at least once!

Re: MODS List
Nice mod list. Now time for a real turbo and some healty boost levels to top it off ;)

Re: MODS List
can you put the fuel system mods into the good stuff? Thanks

Re: MODS List
Looks like a 5-point cage should be in your future if not already. I have a line on a T66 ball bearing laying around.

Re: MODS List
What is the part # for your fuel pump and where did you get it? I have heard of that pump before, but could never find it.
