home snowmaking...

So The eclipse hasnt been driven since early last summer before the engine blew. And now that i have it running again, I cannot afford insurance. Usually theres always somthing to work on, but since it hasnt moved, it hasnt had the chance to break down.

I got bored the other day, so i decided to try and make a snow machine using 1/4" Brass fittings, some pipe, an air compressor, and my garden hose. Its a T-shaped internal mix gun, it has 2 nozzles and it cost me about 25 dollars in parts to make. I welded up a tripod stand out of angle-iron, and painted it white. Havent had much time to try it since its been so warm, but i tried it for an hour a few weeks ago, and made a light coating on the ground. I will try to get a hold of a digital camera one of these days so i can post them up. Hopefully it will get colder out so i can make some more snow in the yard...

you have severely too much time on your hands. lol But cool.

tpunx99GSX 12-10-2004 02:44 AM

how does it make the snow though? just using the air compressor?

Enes 12-10-2004 02:49 AM

cold air and water along with breaking of the air causes it to become colder

Oh I see what’s going on. The back yard snow is just a test. You plan on moving to a larger scale, you'll do the same thing w/fire hydrants in every neighborhood and submerge the town under snow unless a ransom is met so you can fix your eclipse. :p

LMFAO, how about we build thousands of these and bury the hondas and neons so we dont have to look at them anymore.

Hahahaha...

EXACTLY!

jdr_fatbob 12-10-2004 05:44 PM

You must give me the plans for this unbelievable machine!!!

JET 12-10-2004 05:53 PM

We could equip all the DSMStyle members with one of these machines and take over the world! We could be a cult and Allan can be our leader. Naaaah, maybe not :D He would make us do too much kinky stuff.

jdr_fatbob 12-10-2004 05:54 PM

A guy making other guys do kinky stuff... maybe I am in the wrong place...

tpunx99GSX 12-10-2004 08:52 PM

Jdr you obviously havent seen allens cat. or allens cat in bondage gear.

jdr_fatbob 12-11-2004 01:43 AM

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I dunno if I WANT to see that. I take it this is some age old joke... hopefully

IndiEP 12-11-2004 01:43 AM

Cat bondage gear!? not something petco would sell...Allan must have some sewing skillz we don't know about.

jdr_fatbob 12-11-2004 03:19 PM

Either way I still want those plans for this snowmaker.

tpunx99GSX 12-11-2004 05:52 PM

allens cat is about the size of 2 watermelons, Literally. the cat would make a Y2K turbo look like a 9b, and as allen would say "the cat sucks more too".

Jana 12-11-2004 10:05 PM

Hey, our cat is not that big! And yes, it's an old, old joke that's gone on for too long ;)

b00stingsx 12-12-2004 01:06 PM

im not going to give out my design, but its not too far from the external mix design at www.snowathome.com.
