Hittin the slopes
Ahhh the fresh snow finally hits the ground and STAYS!!! Who all is an avid snowboarder or skiier? If anyone ever wants to hit the slopes on the weekend or some random day give me a jingle... this white stuff is callin my name like theres no tomorow whoop WHOOP!!!

Heck Yeah. I've waited for the snow for so long. I was suppose to go to Afton last weekend, but it rained on Friday and they couldnt make snow. I'm gonna finish waxing my board this week and hopefully I'll be able to go to Afton next Saturday (took work off). How long have you been snowboarding/skiing? I might be too tempted and go on Tuesday after school...haha.
aftons open?? sweet!!! ive been boarding for abour 6 years?? but if you saw me ride you would think its been for less. mmm waxed the board eh? i got a whole new (well, new to me) set up. got the burton freestyle bindings (the clickers broke first season, need to call bout gettin those replaced), nitro fabian board which also needs to be waxed and some new dc boots.. the best things ive ever set foot in!. what do you ride? ohhh your lucky you get to go on tuesday, i can only ride on weekends and thatll prolly be packed as the beach on a sunny day.
I rock the Ride Exile, Burton Synchro Bindings (Clickers are lame). I'm down for some thrashing if anyone is interested.
Man I haven't snowboarded since I was 18. Once I joined the military, I haven't been anywhere where I could do it. I still got my board though. It's a yellow Avalanche with some Burton ratchet style bindings, and Van boots, Blackdot jacket with the nice lil elastic things for your wrist so snow doesn't get up in there. If I'm still in MN for the first winter, I'm going to have to see if I can still even make it down the hill. It's been 4 years!!
Everyone here has the Burton Bindings, huh? I have a 5150 board, but I'm not really sure on the name. My brother bought it and didnt like it as much so he gave it to me. I'm going to get the Flow bindings and I was thinking about the M3 Talon boots. Although I might have to try those DC boots first, since they sound pretty nice. I want to get a better board, but dont have the $$$, haha. Anyways...I've only been boarding for like 3 years (4th this year). I'm hoping on starting more on the jumps and stuff this year.
I have Lamar bindings on a Lamar board with Liquid boots. I used to have an '89 Burton Ride board. Still have it, but it's so old and junky... serious old skool.
As far as slopes are concerned... I'll be hitting up Buck in the middle of the night with an inner tube. ;) |
My board is still from '98, I should get a new one. But if I move to AZ, then I think I'll save the money because it's not gunna get much use in that area
I cant stand going up and down the same hill so I wont be hitting any slopes until afton is atleast 75% open. I got too spoiled going to CO and actually skiing on snow, in nice weather too. Everytime I go here its always like 5 degrees and windy like hell haha.
Ill go a few times but prolly only afton or maybe make a trip to lutsen. I ski BTW. |
Have you ever been to hyland??? holy buckets.... you spend more time on the lift then you do on the hill...if you can even call it that. i got a season pass there last year. the park was nice, though a lil icy and worn cuz of the crowds, but it was so close.
I've never been to hyland before. The only places I've been to are Trollhaugen and Afton Alps. This year I'll be going to Spirit Moutain, Afton Alps, Trollhaugen, Buck Hill and some other ones if I find people to go with me.
Which place in MN do you guys all go to? Which do you guys think is the best? |
I went to wildmountain afton alps and hyland last year. the best was probably in between wildmt and afton. I learned at trollhaugen so im biased, i like it there, not to many ppl just right amount of foliage, and a good park.
HAHA, Hyland was are place back in the day. We'd pay for maybe 3 passes, then every other time, we'd just walk right in. We'd keep our old passes on our jackets so people didn't really notice. But there was a certain time everyday, like maybe noon or sumthin, that they'd go out to the lifts and check lift passes. So we'd just take a break and go inside and eat for an hour, and then go right back out! Place was pretty small, but we had fun over in their jump park area.
It seems most of you like the terrain parks, but I'm surprised none of you have mentioned Welch Village. I've only been there, Afton and Buck Hill, but it's something different and not too far away when compared to Afton.

YEAH BUDDY! the day was split in 1/2 @ 3:00, we'd put the lift ticket on our shell and take it off then and get to know the lift operator, remember? ;) |
HAHAHAHAH sneaky sneaky you two are. i saw ppl all the time gettin caught there for no lift tickets. they had some security guard go all round the place. crazy
Ive been to welch once a few years ago, thought it was really nice but I dont remember a whole lot about it, stayed overnight with school and was really fun.
Oh, hey Austin, you remember the bunny hills too. Gotta love those bad ass slopes!!
Green Circles are the best! haha.
That's the reason why I like Trollhaugen, they dont have too many people and they have enough hills to go down. Afton is just always crowded with people, especially on the days that I can go..haha. But they have even more hills to go down...plus its kinda getting expensive at Afton. Its like $32 this year for a full day lift pass...it used to be in the $20 area didnt it? |
i'm down the slopes of afton any time on the weekends night usually though
i'm ready to finally hit the slopes any time just give some advanced warning. corey |
