Alrite, I am just semi venting, but I feel I deserve the right to because I have been awake for .... 30+ hours and just failed two tests in the matter of 3 hours. One of the tests I failed is the second one in a row. It's not you're normal failure, it's "I'm lucky if I get 5 points" (outta 100) failure. My last test in that class (computer oh snap ass science) was a 0 outta 100. I knew I deserved that cause I didn't study and it was 6 programming problem/questions. This one, I have studied since 3PM yesterday til 7am this morning. I understood it and all, but got to the test and it happen to be the stuff I didnt get to study because I was studying the other stuff (which happen to be about 5% of the test, so there goes my 5 points I wanted). Well, then I had a Calc I test too, and we all know Calc I is a peice of cake, except I was taking the test and all of a sudden my mind blanked and none of the stuff I was writing worked out at all. Then I panicked cause I had 5 minutes left of test taking time. Um...... I looked through it and If I get all the points for what I did do, I will end up getting about 40 outta 100. YAY :( Goddamnit. So this poll here is asking your suggestion if I should leave now and save 3 weeks of my life anyways because I hate Duh Luth anyways to death and was thinking to just come home to relax til next semester. The only downfall will be that two other classes I have will end up being D's or F's also, but those classes are worthless pointless liberal eds (Jazz Studies and Intro to Guitar and are only 4 credits unlike the 10 credits from the two important classes I am probably going to end up losing anyways). Um....... yea, the house I'm renting is filthy as hell from the roomates which I think are disrespectful hippocrits(some of them), and I hate living there and paying for it. BTW, does anyone know how legal action can be had on me if I dont go thru w/ paying and don't pay for the rest... I don't have anything of value in my name ;) Anyways, My point is.... goddamn duluth in every possible way as I'm about to totally snap on every little last bit of life up here. So anyways, take the poll :) Damn, that was a decent vent.

If your under a contract for rent yes you will have to pay. You don't want to fuck with that, I ran into that exact issue in college and well it sucks.

Jakey 11-21-2003 12:44 PM

Well I've had about the same week as you have had. Wednesday night I had a physics test that thought I did damn well on and it turned out that I scored a 26 out of 60 which equals a big fat F.
I've been trying to figure out what the hell to do and here is what I have come up with which I think applies to you also: Stick it out, college is supposed to involve fuck-ups and failures, and if needed retake the class. Your money is already spent so get what you can out of the rest of the semester. I don't know about your school, but down here at Iowa State if one were to come out of a semester with straight D's and F's you would have your ass stuck on adademic probation and basically given one semester to get shit together or you are "academically dismissed." If you were to leave now and end up not passing or barely passing all of your classes instead of pulling a decent grade out of your two liberal ed classes, next semester will be much worse off as instead of having two shitty grades on your transcript to account for, you will have four.

niterydr 11-21-2003 01:17 PM

stick with it buddy.

MustGoFaster 11-21-2003 02:18 PM

The money's spent, might as well stick it out for the two classes and get the credits.

Kracka 11-21-2003 02:41 PM

Get whatever credits you can...save you time an money in the long run. Having straight F's for a semester won't look good on your transcript.

i just had a calc 1 test today and it sucked. i spent most of last night and about 4 hours this moring going over everyting for it. I knew everything on the review and when i got my test i just wanted to go kick the prof in the face. i didnt even attempt 25 out of 100 points. i probably got 40/100. ill probably fail calc but ill still go to class. im going to have to take it over in the spring. do you have greene for calc? that guy needs to get fired. he is the worst teacher ive ever had.

Kracka 11-21-2003 03:24 PM

I am going to have to retake calc for the 3rd time next year....kinda sucks, I feel retarded. But then again, this math is pointless and has no practical application that you can't do 10x easier with algebra.

jd1828 11-21-2003 05:02 PM

that sucks. you will have spent about $3000 on calc classes

BuildADSM 11-21-2003 08:37 PM

In all honesty I think that calc is ment to be taken at least 2 times...

I also think you should stick it out cause like they said 2fs are better than 4.

IndiEP 11-22-2003 01:52 AM

I've been there before, it sucks and is extremely stressful/depressing. You reach that point where you and the teacher know your doomed but it looks a lot better when you still make an effort to come to class and try. I can't remember how many classes I failed before I changed schools/major but I still went to class and didn't burn bridges. Which is funny 'cause I might go back and put all my classes twords an associates or something to show for my time/money. Stick it out and try your best.

Not to start an agrument but I believe that Calculus was one of my classes last year that has proven to be the most beneficial so far. It all depends on what field you are going in to. Calculus can and does have many practical applications.

See thats the thing. I took Calc AB and BC /Advanced Placement in High school (it was tougher than it is now) and I Know this stuff like no one's business, it's just for this test, I blanked out and for some reason, nothing wanted to calculate. As for 4 F's, bah, it's just lib ed's(imo). i do have greene, and he sucks that's why I don't go at all to lecture, just to discussion. It's not that I don't go cause I really hate his teaching, but I already know the stuff he blabbers and gets off topic about. :fworld: Oh well, I'm countin' the days I get to leave the hick-ass atmosphere Duh F'uckin Luth.

Super Bleeder!! 11-22-2003 03:42 PM

heh, reading about everyone else have a crusty bitch of a time in school is kinda of relieving because then i know i'm not the only one stressing.
calc is actually a "short cut" from doing long drawn out algebra equations because as everyone knows, mathmaticians are fucking lazy. they cut corners and abbreviate wherever they can get away with it. integrals and derivatives is just a way to sum up x amount of algebra equations into one calc equation with relatively little fuss. i mean, i know what you are all saying about it being oh snap as a class, because i totally agree. but i also see how much it can be applied to real world problems, retarded or not. BUT, i have not yet met a good calc teacher honestly. most of them i think teach in a way that THEY can understand, with no real regard for the class in most cases. the fact that the majority of them are over 50 doesn't help either. i imagine if i had like a 24 year old math teacher things would go better because they'd be more in tune with the real world us youngins see. and you know when the teacher goes "alright everyone understand?" and the whole class just stares, and then there is like 10 secs of silence, then the teach says "ok....moving on then to cylindrical shells.." and then you feel like, ahhhh crap i didn't understand the last part even...
tutoring centers help a lot in my opinion. i know one of the UMD math tutors and she knows her shit.
i myself am also in that precarious situation where i'm right between a C- and a D, and i need the C to count towards my major. :oh snapflag:

Jana 11-22-2003 07:27 PM

Stick it out, you've already paid so at least get the 4 credits. As for the place you are renting...the only time you need to worry is if you have a written (or verbal) contract. Yes, verbal contracts can hold up sometimes. Otherwise, fuck it and get out. :) Sorry to hear you're not having a good semester. :(

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 12-20-2003 01:00 PM

Godfucking damnit. Just fyi...... :( fuck it. I ended up failing THREE classes. That's all of em...... One class was hard as shit, the other was easy as shit......... wtf? I'm not stupid(I don't think)! omfg. fuck school and DULUTH! Just venting :bounce: thanks for those who told me to stay  ...jk...
