Jana 11-22-2004 09:09 PM

Good luck, most place won't hire under 18 unless it's like a fast food place, walmart, target, etc as far as I know.

SquackDiddy 11-22-2004 09:23 PM

for real thats garbage. what stores are you talkin about though? like the auto parts stores? im going to try those places first, except pepboys, they said you need a highskoo diploma so thats cancel. cuz i need money to get a dsm or a 240 or something. since i have a car now, i have to save on my own.

Apply at SEARS somewhere. Just make sure it's in sales. I average anywhere from $14-20/hr and I'm 17. Cashiers only make like $7.

Yeah, Job hunting isn't that easy.. Right now Subway sounds good for work. LOL

We all have jobs.

Any of the major retail chains or fast food chains should be hiring as they always are.

1QUICK4 11-23-2004 10:48 AM

Welfare?

Raptor 11-23-2004 11:52 AM

Start practicing this line and you will go far.

"paper or plastic?"

And if that doesn't work, there is always:

"Would you like fries with that?"

Never done either myself, but my niece managed to do okay with it. When I was sixteen I worked at a small garage in effie MN as a mechanic. I doubt there are too many places like that now days that will hire a kid, but you could always try. Just talk to the smaller shops, maybe something will work out.

Make sure you get yourself some plaid pants and a short sleeve shirt and tie. It's suggested attire for salespeople at Sears.

Make the extra drive to Wayzata or Eden Prairie if you're going to work fast food, they always pay about $5/hr more than other McD's.

see if you can get a job at a jiffy lube or something. You might not be able to be a "lubrication technician" but they might hire you as a cashier or something, then when you get old enough, you work your way up the ladder.

Also, try checker or napa or something like that, they can pay pretty well, and the work isn't too demanding.

EvilEvo 11-23-2004 03:46 PM

You guys are mean :) Ill give you a job at my shop.. might take a while for you to commute to Madison though. :) I hire 16 year old kids that are still in HighSchool. Most of them just Vacuum cars and drain oil and clean. One of them has been a good salesman (Got paid $9.50 an hour with a $500 bonus every month. Not too bad for 16 years old.

EvilEvo 11-23-2004 03:47 PM

By the way, I manage a Jiffy Lube :)

If you really want my company owns all the ones in Minneapolis. If you want I could most likely get you a job if your interested (And yes, you would be trained to be a Lube Tech :) As long as your not an idiot).
