car is bogging sometimes.....
yea so my car likes to bog down (easiest way to describe it) sometimes. I will be driving and when i go to speed up the EGT gauge will start to rise alot and i can hear the turbo spooling but my speed wont be increasing. So I will let off the gas and step back on it and do that a couple of times and the EGT gauge will go back to around 14 and stay there and run fine. Just wondering if any of you guys would have any idea what it could be.
Thanks for any info. My current mods on my 1993 eagle talon tsi FWD (AT): QPR built motor evo 3 big 16G turbo manual boost controller set to 14psi walbro 255 fuel pump ported 2G exhaust manifold 2.5'' custom downpipe to highflow cat 3'' all the way back to muffler tip K&N air filter IPT stall converter |
check your trany fluid level, it could be your torq converter that is going out....
what boost are you running? does it build to the set boost when this is hapening? -E |
im running 14 psi and it doesnt go over that when its bogging. I will check the tranny fluid but i highly doubt it is low, i check it frequently and it doesnt seem to move at all. Thanks for the idea though

does it stutter or anything like that?
check your spark plugs and cables as well as coils make sure they are functioning right. EGT's raising i'd say it has to do something with fuel, either you have a boost leak somewhere or lack of fuel to cool off the detonation. which brings me to the next topic, did you get my phone message about the injectors? because i don't see a FPR on there with the 255 that you have, and with your stock injectors you are probably over running the fpr. especially with the stock injectors and this cold weather.. -E |
yea i got your voicemail about the injectors it took you forever to call me back on those.... yea but with those 550's im going to need an AFC when i install them otherwise it would run worse wouldnt it? i've got new plugs and wires when i got my engine built at QPR last month.

This is at WOT right? maybe you just hitting fuel cut get 550s afc and a logger.
|
LOL, yeah it took a week or so :)
I'd say yes you would need safc, but at least you won't be burning anyhting out at least like there is a chance right now due to your EGT's .. now your egt's are you talking about 1400F or C .. 1400F is pretty cold considering redline for danger is somewhere around 1600F or 900C .. 1400C you are melting so i assume you are talking about F -E |
No this isnt at Wide open throttle. Its weird because it only bogs sometimes. But yea i guess my best bet would to just get the 550's, afc and logger.

Have you modded/hacked your MAS yet?
|
I would check your injectors and your stock fuel setup. Sounds to me like the car is going lean and knocking (pulling tons of timing) which will make the car still build boost but it will bog and feel like its not going anywhere. If you are on stock injectors with the mods you have I would be willing to guess your running really really lean under boost, especially when it gets colder.
CRAIG |
If they are stock injectors then they are only 390cc. Those are no near enough for even 15psi on a 14b, especially with the other things an AT ecu does compared to a MT ecu.
Swap them injectors and get an AFC. |
no i havent modded/hacked my MAS yet. But yea i figured i really needed to get injectors and an AFC.
Thanks for your guy's help. |
He does have 450's if I remember right, the car doesn't have the original motor, someone had done a 6bolt swap in it before we got it. The injectors and AFC will help.
