Top Speed of Laser.
 

I saw this guy at my school with a red N/T laser and I was talking to him for a little bit. He said that he topped his car out at 156, at first I didnt believe him because he had a N/T laser. I still dont believe him, but I'm not the smartest on top speeds at all. Is it possible to get to 156 on a N/T laser, because most of us will top out at a little over 140...right? I just had to get this out of the way....

I don't think that he is telling the truth, I have a decently modded turbo laser FWD and burrying the speedo was no big deal, and didn't take very long to hit 145+. But a N/T I just don't think it would have the horsepower to go over 130 or so. But who knows.

Most people who brag about what they did in their NT Laser are full of shit. I believe the turbos top out at 147, and I don't imagine the NTs top out higher.

maybe his speedometer was broken and reading like 15 miles ahead...haha

I think the turboed lasers can go faster than 147?

you'd have to find out what the gear ratios in the nt are. I know in my fwd I can do 140MPH in 4th gear and im shure alot more in 5th but I have a little more power then a NT

With the auto tranny it might be possible...long downhill straight and some mods.

I hit 140mph on Elites dyno in my 4th gear pulls on my old laser but it was a turbo.
Fastest 5th gear run I ever had was 138-9ish with plenty more room to run. Didn't want to shift out of overdrive to smoke that Vette.

Dude, it has about the same power as a Honda. My civic would only go to 120- 125.

157 is fast. It takes alot of power to overcome drag. 157 is alot of drag. (insert BS flag here)

Bullshit, most dsms won't actually hit 156mph for real unless they can pull alot of 5th gear (awd).

An NT Laser won't have enough HP to pull to 156mph no matter what the gearing is.

Dude tell the guy he's full of Shit.... Just check out this 160mph Video.... the person had 322whp at the time in my FWD and it took every bit of HP to hit 160mph. And took about 3 miles starting from a 55mph roll.

Yep, no way can a 120 hp car hit 156 mph. Hell, the bikes having 120 crank hp can barely hit 156!

Stock turbo's top out 136-142 mph (AWD & FWD respectively).

My mildly modded 92 2.0 NT would hit right around 130 (took a retarded amount of highway to do), had more gear, not enough power. Definately BS.

pfff I have a 91 N/A laser and the absoulte maximum that car will go was about 128 and that is with perfect compression and the tires inflated to 55psi ! after about 90 it is completely gutless and quite insipid to even contunue. 156? what a load of flaming llama crap.
