water/oil cooled turbos

Can you plug the coolant ports on a Mitsubishi turbo and just run oil through it? It would be nice to have everything ready for a bigger turbo when I get to that point on my 2G. Thanks. -Kevin

Why would you want to plug them off?

Sounds like because he is lazy. You could do it but it is not much more work to just plug them later. Why worry about it now? The turbo will like being water cooled. Some larger turbos have water lines depending on which one you go with. I would leave them attached.

I've read some honda guys do it so they don't have to plumb water lines and supposedly it worked for them. I wouldn't do it, I'd think you would burn your turbo up pretty quick.

Well we are talkin about Honda guys here. They're lazy unless it comes to body molding or something. ;) (just kidding)

It's a lot easier to run water lines for an already turbo'd/water cooled car than it is for a non-turbo car. So you really can't compare the two.

You will have to turbo-time your car a bit longer before shutdown.
