What could this be?
My car is running weird. I was driving to work the other day and the CEL turns on. Everything is running fine. I get to work and turn the car off. I start it again and its fine, no CEL. About 8 hours later, I try it again and it won't start. I kept trying to start it and finally got it going. Heres what is happening now when I start the car.
-I have to try to turn it over like 15 times before it starts. -Each time it turns over it dies. First time it dies right away at like 100 rpm. then it dies at like 300 then 500 and so on till it can keep running. -Once its started, when I hit the gas to rev it, the rpm's drop instead of rise. They drop like 500rpm. -After like 2 mins the rpm go the right way and my car runs fine. -My boost is a little high and I haven't turned it down. I checked the plugs and they are looking more like I am running rich instead of lean. -I also pulled a plug when I tried to start it again, and I smell lots of gas. Really weird problem, any ideas. My mods are full exaust and a 255 fuel pump. I also have Idle surge, but i disconnected the sensor that tells when the throttle is closed, so it idles at 2k. |
Any wierd "egg" smell inside the car? Does the car feel like it has lost a lot of engine compression?
|
Most likely your ECU caps. Any clicking from under the hood or behind the dahs while its "dying" or trying to start?

update
Now the car doesn't start at all. I didn't have any egg smell, and the compression was fine, it ran just fine once i got it going. The ecu should be fine, there is no clicking.
Any other ideas |

I have similar problems. Where is the power transitor located?
|
On the drivers side of the engine by the intake manifold. There is a traingular plug (coil) and there is a long, kinda narrow plug. That is the power transistior. It is right next to the timing belt cover.

It doesnt look like what you think it would. Mine doesnt click into place which could very well be your problem. It is EASILY accessable if you have decent lighting. Once you know the location, if you run into this problem.. you should be able to plug it back in eyes closed.
