Ok this is a question for a guy I've been talking to who's consdering buying a 50trim for his AWD (he as all the supporting mods etc)

anyrate I told him if he's going to go internally waiste gated that he needs to get the exhaust housing that is "CUT" in order to help illiminate boost creep.

Well when he called PTE they told him the other way around?

Am I mistaken? Here's what I'm talking about

You are correct and your friend is confused. Think about it... You need it uncut if you're running an external wastegate off the O2 housing.

I've got the uncut version with an internal wg. But that's because I have it setup for external dump. But ya the whole point of the CUT housing is to reduce boostcreep in the internally gated ones.

He's right the uncut is for a dumped o2 housing. Im running the cut version on a ported 2g o2 housing with no creep. In my opinion I'd tell him to go with the cut and keep it quiet.

I was the one confused and the guys at PTE told him the wrong information.

He's going to be running a ported 2G 02 housing.

Anyrated thanks for clarifing... I wanted to make sure before he bought a turbo that he got the right thing.

Get the uncut. You can always take steps to get rid of creep. You might end up regretting getting a cut one, because if it still creeps you're screwed. If you have an uncut you can always resort to an external.

Well he went with the "Cut" one... He's already recieved it.

I was the one orginally requesting advice from SlowWhite on purchasing my PTE 50 trim turbo. If you have no intentions of running and external dump 02 housing, get the CUT version. I received my PTE 50trim from www.extremepsi.com They had it in stock and priced matched for me. It was $830 shipped. I had it in 3 days.

Except for the "cut" channel destroys smooth exhaust flow and creates lots of turbulance. It is a ghetto fix for a problem that shouldn't have been present in the first place.

Actually if you knew how an internal gate really works, you would realize that it is not a ghetto fix. Actually, maybe it would be because all internal gates are ghetto unless you do an external dump. Don't get me wrong, I do prefer them, but they do hinder perfomance by a fair amount.
