Year, Engine, HP Goal, Budget??
|
*2001
*3.1 V6 *$0-3000 *No HP goal... just wants a lil faster car Sorry Kiel... :grouphug: |
CAI (from a Grand Am, Beretta, Corsica compatible cars) ($150 Max)
Exhaust from any muffler shop ($300 Max) Plugs/Wires/Injectors?? ($300 Max?) Nitrous ($600 Max) If I'm not mistaken, I think someone makes headers (Edelbrock Maybe?) My friend Mike also says there is a Blower out there somewhere.... Mike had an older Corisca 3.1L V6 and ran 14.7. Impressive since it was 3 different colors. |
Whats up with you and nitrous Kiel? :stick:

GM Performance Parts makes a Hot Cam for the 2.8L & 3.1L V6
You could mill the heads/ Cam it/ Chip it/ exhaust and youd be around 210BHP and enough torque to make it a little more fun to drive. Dunno if you'll need a higher stall converter for the auto with that cam. (Mine was a 5sp Berreta) Check out http://www.SDPC2000.com http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/performance_parts.html |
nitrous is the only way its gonna be fast...or faster
CAI,exhaust,"injectors" (WTF?) will not make it noticably faster... |
why doesn't he just upgrade to the 3.8?

I DID THIS
Last time I had to do the heads on my moms car i got machining for so cheap i said wtf go for it. intake matched to heads tb/manifold smoothed out mild port and polish cam was shot and no one had a replacment in mn but checkers had a comp cam in stock that someone ordered but never bought it so i bought it 3 angle valve job shaved heads a little to get higher compression I put a g meter in it once and it said it ran 14.6 For my moms driving she doesnt notice it but it pulls way harder now |
Also the rockers on 2.8L & 3.1L V6s are basicly 1.5 ratio sbc rockers. You could probably upgrade to a 1.6 sbc roller tipped rocker for a little more lift on the stock cam.

i wouldnt do that the pistons are already really close to the valves

He'd just have to swap over some sensor's and the injectors. I was temped to try this swap on the wifes 95 Grand Am 3.1, I'm getting sick of replacing lower intake manifold gaskets, but the 3.4 has the same problem. :headache: |
