What's the best way to mount a Camcorder to a Roll Cage?
What's the best Angle/Direction to face the Camcorder? Is there anything you can do to minimize vibrations? FYI - This is for my Eclipse and I'm having a 6 point cage installed. |
http://www.ompusa.com/miscellaneous.htm or http://www.soloracer.com/ioportcammount.htm - Same mount. Seems to be the only one I can find online.

Thanks for the websites. Just what I was looking for.

Although I'm getting my cage from S&W the mounts that Matt listed are much better IMO. They cost a lot more but mounting at $1600 camera to a Cage with 2 hose clamps just doesn't make me feel safe.
here's that website for those who are wondering: http://www.swracecars.com |
My brother sent me another Racing Camcorder site deticated soley to video making.

For someone who costantly mentions not having money and can't seem to keep their car running you sure seem to spend the money you do have on some odd things. I'd like to see your car driving on the street more. I'm just hoping you have the money to do both. But whatever it's your money. |

Saving my interior is all I care about.....why else would someone get a cage? The camera mount is just so I can take pictures of my interior while I'm driving also... The harness's.. that's so I don't fall forward and ruin the nice pictures of my interior when I brake.... :stick: |

But yea its your choices ;) Just mount a regular camcorder in there... why would you waste money on a special mount and camera? Especially one over $1500?? :blah: |
he has a $1500 camera already...
hence why he wants something more secure to hold it up.. -E |
I already have a DL1 - I just want a mount.
As for the money thing Some months I get more money then others.... so what? Besides I didn't become #4 post whore on here by keeping my mouth shut. ;) Thanks Enes for backing me up on that one. |
Is it just me, or is mounting a $1500 camera in your car a really bad idea? Unless you're going to be reselling the video you shoot, a cheap to average priced camera is going to give you a good enough picture and you don't have to worry about wrecking it.
Why not convert you car to run on faberge eggs and bald eagle heads while you're at it? |
I just want to get the Best picture of my interior as possible that's why I'm mounting my $1500 camera in my car. :headache:

You could have someone weld a bolt you your cage, then screw the camera into that bolt, normaly done on the cross bar just behind the seats. Or get a tripod from somewhere and weld/mount the base the camera bolts to onto the cage. The mount Matt D posted looks very nice and is approved, might have to look into whats required.

heheh sorry forgiving you a hard time. - I'm putting in a 6 point Cage, and harness's because I'm going to need it if I want to run at the tracks next year. I'm looking for close to 550whp next year. with the 6 bolt 2.4L bottom end I'm getting built, that's replacing my CrankWalked/spun bearinged 7 bolt. |
