What are some signs for boost leak?

Listen for a hissing sound when you floor it. Do it in 3rd gear if you can. If you get a major boost leak, the car won't make any power at higher boost levels, cause it will all leak out. Check the IC pipes to make sure they are all tight.

do a boost leak while the car is off..

Boost spike on spoolup. More boost drop in the upper RPMs than normal. Running way too ruch under boost.

Low vacuum at idle. Boost/vac leak.

Yep, thats what I have. Its not surprising, I still have the rubber hoses all around. I guess I should do a leak test before it gets any colder, eh?...haha. Maybe if I fix that, I can get my MBC to work properly... :bounce:

had the same question..my ic pipe popped off while shifting to 2nd and it had an uneven edge so i couldnt pop it back in..took it to a shop nearby brookdale mall and the dude just cut it so it had a even edge and pop it back in...it looks like its in tight n good but the car has no top end anymore it will boost to 15 then stop but the MBC is set at 17.5 psi...boost leak??? maybe the ic pipes have leaks, i had to limp it to the nearby shop with the ic pipe off, maybe something went wrong there?
dont mean to highjack but since we are on the subject, just wanted some advice.

Nothing could have gone wrong running with a popped off ic pipe. I have done it a couple of times. Never had to take my car into the shop tho.

No boost creep on an internally gated bigger turbo, lots of knock in the upper RPMs. Turbo won't boost past 20 PSI, only spikes past it then falls. Having to run 780 cc injectors with a global setting of only -25% in DSMlink when it should be closer to -40%. 100% injector duty cycle needed to run only 20 PSI of boost. :uh: :uh: :uh:

I just found out my car couldn't hold more than 6PSI after performing a boost leak test at QPR. My EGR was leaking horribly, installing a block off plate from QPR brought the PSI up to 11-12 on the boost gauge. Then I found a couple smaller leaks in the piping and we had it at 18 PSI rock steady only leaking slightly out the BISS screw. Suffice it to say, this car needs to be tuned all over again which is a good thing! ;)

 yeah, that was me. Glad I fukin did, that place has a way of making me feel good about solving an issue and a dumbass for having that issue at the same time. :uh:

One other thing, if you have high engine temps and automatically assume the FMIC+A/C core+Radiator and stock fans is why your temps sit around 210, try replacing the stock stat with a new one. :uh: Now my car doesn't seem to ever get over 186.

Mike and Swanny have been awesome with my car, Allan's been good at taking my money. :bounce:

Did you perform or have someone do a boost leak test yet?
