If that was directed toward me, I don't get it. What does Oregon have to do with Wyotech or Mt. St. Helens? In 1980 almost the entire state of Wyoming saw at least some amount of ash. There's no saying that this pending eruption will be less or greater than the previous one.

I saw a geologist commenting on it this morning on Good Morning America as I was running late for school. He said it wasn't going to be as bad as the 1980. He could obviously be wrong though. He was talking about the gas samples starting to decline (in concentration) meaning that it should not be a huge blast like before. We will find out though.

Good luck at school.

one word of advice....
get a job doing what you are going to be doing after you graduate!!

it will help you a whole whole lot!

does WIO have any ICAR certification or manufacture training? if so, do that also.

but experience will outdo any schooling!

Yep, Washington State, I lived there for 5 years and have been as far up St Helens as the public was allowed since the eruption in the 80's. The reason I mentioned Oregon is that Vancouver, where St Helens is, is at the extreme south of the state and Oregon seems to be more effected when it has erupted in the past. I lived in Klamath Falls OR, when it erupted last time and remember the majority of the state being effected pretty strongly. We had ash coming in on all the trains etc and Klamath is only 17 miles from the Cali border.
