Does anyone think getting a stronger fork is a good idea while Im replacing the fork? Or should I just go with a new stock one?
Mine has 200k on it and im not sure what the ball depth should be. Im thinking its kinda worn away. If anyone wanted to do a group buy taboo's are 100 bucsk if I get 10 people. Anyone know how much a stock one is off the top of their head? TIA Peter 91GSX |
I am thinking the stocker is about $60. Be sure to get a new ball from Mitsu too.

Taboo might have good products, but I've heard enough horror stories to make me never want to deal with them. Doesn't anyone else out there make an aftermarket fork?
|
i do, paypal me first though
|
Well how many people have broken there stock forks here?
And if cher (mucho power) is using a stock one then Ill just go get a new one becuase they had a revision anyway so make them stronger. |
JUST AN FYI....
i have the fork in stock ($49.66) but im out of the fulcrum / ball (($5.96) Tottal w/ tax is $59.24 fulcrum looks to be 2-3 days out.... |

Ive been reading around and some people dont get there parts for months and others get them right away... Kinda on off service because there is a wait time for some parts and its mentioned right on the site, plus this is some guys side job thats why it takes longer.
But that shouldnt mean you cant get ahold of the person, to me thats just bad service. I cant wait long so Ill need parts right away, so Taboo is not going to work. gixxer- Ill paypal you -10 dollars? Will that work? ;) Give me info! |
I believe Taboo is just down the road from me in Des Moines so if any of you folk need parts picked up so you don't have to worry about them never getting shipped, just let me know. I would be more than happy to pick up some parts and ship them out so you'd know for sure when they're coming.

Hmmmm, Should we look into doing billet clutch forks? Think there is enough of a demand to justify it if the cost was a little better than what is currently available?
|
Thing is I would need it pretty quick... and Im not sure who all would want one, I dont think theres alot of demand.

That Taboo character is pissin me off. I purchased the rear camber kit awhile ago. Well like I said in my other thread, my dad is moving so I need to change the shipping address that he is shipping it to. I've tried emailing the guy to tell him but never do I get a responce. I seem to keep running into shops that never get back to me. I think I'm going to start just sticking with my 2 shops that are great to me and that's it.
|
Mail-order shops that I have had good business with:
Bushcur RRE Dejon Boost Controller Summit Archer Brookdale Mitsu Conicelli Mitsu many many more I'm sure This doesn't take in to account the shops I've done in-person business with, although I've been to Archer many times, when I do have stuff shipped it arrives generally the next day. Place I would never do business with again: TRE!!! I've been hearing bad things about Taboo ever since they started making products, same goes for Dark Side Racing (do they even exist anymore?). |
Once again guys, if you need help with anything Taboo related, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Des Moines is 30 miles down the road from me so if there is any way that I can help, let me know.

Re: Clutch Fork?
OK, well let it be known that I officially want that guy's balls in a jar. It's been 4 months. I don't think I'm ever getting the camber kit since my shipping address has changed, and I can't get ahold of him to change the addy to get it sent to. If you don't mind confronting him since he's close to you, then please do it. I still have the paypal verification number, and that's about all I have, because they don't give you any sort of order number. I've put in a report with the BBB. I'm still working with paypal as they are trying to help me get my money back even though it's been long past the 30 day mark. If anyone else has any advice as to how to get my 77 bux back, please lemme know. I will probably be using my free legal I get here because I've read about this guy ripping so many people off, that I'm ready to break out the brass knuckles.

Once I get back to Ames after break I am going to do some research on Martin Hala. He has taking thousands of dollars from people in the past few months without anyone seeing product in return. Last I heard the phone number for Taboo has been disconnected but hopefully I'll be able to find some other contact information from him. I'll be sure to let you know. |
Re: Clutch Fork?
The stock ones are just fine. The thing that kills them is having your clutch out of adjustment. If its poorly adjusted it will cause the fork to pivot on the transmission case rather than the pivot ball. This causes cracks in the aluminum and it will eventually fail. This is what happened to my clutch fork.
Keep your master/slave cylinders in good shape (if the master is leaking or needs excessive adjustment, just replace it) and the stocker will be just fine. |
Re: Clutch Fork?
If yours has alot of miles I would agree that it should be replaced just because of the ball wearing into the fork. However I am running my 190k mile OEM clutch fork on an ACT 2900 with a shimmed pivot ball and it works fine but as they say, YMMV ;)
