http://3sforum.com/vids/1154.wmv timeslip: http://3sforum.com/albums/album22/1154slip1.jpg The setup is basically a 3000gt sl, gutted stock 158k shortblock, stock N/A transmission with quaife diff. http://3sforum.com/albums/modlist/mods.jpg Not to shabby :jammin: So if you ever run into a sl and he tells u he just has a 'single turbo upgrade', watch out. Granted this is a purpose built drag car, but hell, I think its pretty cool for a fwd. I think he is running 14psi on the setup? might be 16. The slicks are at 16psi tire pressure as well. Thats all I remember. :fworld: |
Are 3000gt VR-4's pretty quick? There is this black guy at my school whos brother owns a black VR-4 and he says that its really fast. He used a stopwatch and timed himself on White Bear Ave. and he said that he ran 11 seconds...I didnt believe him. This is what I think he has...
AVC-R....HKS BOV...exhaust...and he claims he has a 3" turboback. To really find out, I guess I'll have to race him one of these days to shut him up or to shut myself up...haha. |
That black kids VR4 probably runs 13s.
T70 on that SL is pretty big. If he could get some traction off the line it might run a 10. |

Sounds like a sweet car. Too bad he cant hook up, that thing would really move.

can't get much gayer than a fwd shrimp barge

Exhaust and other full 'bpu' mods on a healthy 3s should net solid 12's. |
13.0 with just two mods. What do stealths run stock? My cousin has a 3000gt VR-4 and that thing isnt quick at all for a TT. How similar are the Stealth's and VR-4's...I know they're pretty close, but I dont know much about either of those two.
|
Joe Gonsowski ran a 13.0 on a completely stock (down to the air filter) 96 Stealth. It was a somewhat cold day from what I hear. Mid to high 13's are the norm for stock.
|
Stealth's and VR-4's are the same as an eclipse versus a talon. Same car mechanically with a different body and options.
|
and heavy useless gadgetry
|
I think someone has an intense hatred for the 3S.... Oh well but if I remember right a GVR4 wasn't the lightest thing on wheels. :stick: j/k
|
Yea I think they are saaaaweet!
|
IMO, I like the Stealths better. Arent there people with 3S's that run at the track. I dont think I've seen one run before, but I've seen a few on the streets.
|
Alot of the MN3S members have started going to Brainerd for the Wednesday night street drags instead of Rock Falls. I think I went to about 4 of them including the last two. I know I personally try to avoid Rock Falls Import Days at all costs. They give me nightmares.
One of the locals has been hitting consistant 11's with a pair of 15Gs on his Stealth. The nice thing about the 3S is the performance and reliablity at BPU. Sure you can make a DSM faster but it takes a lot of work and you sacrifice reliability. And then if you want it to handle and stop as well as a 3S it takes more work. On the other hand what I really dislike (besides the weight) is the transverse V6 motor and twin turbos. What a cluster fuck. I'd rather have an inline six (preferably with a single turbo). Nissan Skyline where are you? ;) |
went to the track in the stealth that one time.
I'll be going back when its back together. |
What Chris said about 3/Ses is all true. A twin turbo 3/S will hit high 12s with BPU. In other words with stock turbos and stock fuel. The great thing is they are very reliable and headache free at this level. The bad thing is it get very expensive and a lot of headaches to take it to the next level.
As far as us racing... Us locals have been doing 1/4 mile since before Rock Falls even had Import days. See: http://mn3s.org/drag-times.html (and I haven't even updated that page in over two years) ;) later, Curt |
So Brainerd is where they all go, huh? I might have to up there sometime to see how nice it is up there. Too bad I have to settle for Rock Falls for now. I'm avoiding Import Days also. Thats why we go to Fun Days...haha.
