He always wanted a sports car, and had driven a z4 and an s2000. And the today he tells me that he bought a tr6 on ebay. I asked him where that came from and he said he didnt know, he still cant believe he did it. So, whatever i guess, here is a link to the auction,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...2489173372&rd=1

check it out.

It will be here next week so expect to see me rolling around in it the following weekend. Ha.

It seems a lot of guys around that age really want a TR6, and understandably so. Cool car.

150 HP sports car? about the same weight as the laser? anyway 5251 miles is cool why did pick the tr6? :3gears:

Not sure why the tr6. He used to own an MG and a 65 Mustang convertable. So maybe he has an affinity for underpowered droptops.

My dad use to have that exact car in green a long time ago. He really liked it. But that is alot of money for that car.

Kracka 09-14-2004 11:12 PM

At 150hp it was probably one of the quicker cars of its time due to its smaller size. Everything else from that time was a huge boat with a choked V8 trying to meet emissions. $13.6k isn't bad for a completely original numbers matching car, especially with those few miles.

Super Bleeder!! 09-15-2004 03:59 AM

is your dad a master mechanic? cause old british cars loooove to be worked on. packing wheel bearings and checking points is gonna be sooo fun ;)

fievel 09-15-2004 04:25 AM

speaking of which, does anyone know a good place that works on these cars? he wanted me to find out for him.

Kracka 09-15-2004 09:33 AM

There is an import place on 3 in St. Louis Park that is pretty good I hear, there is also Autopia in Uptown.

Raptor 09-15-2004 11:45 AM

Working on a TR6 is no big deal. Getting parts could be more of a challenge. My dad also had a few of these over the years. It is a classic to a lot of people. Budget sports cars that back in the day didn't have that much affordable competition.

if that car weighed more than 2100lbs i'd be surprised.

it should be a fairly quick car if the engine is still running good.

Goat Blower 09-15-2004 05:52 PM

For a classic car in that good of shape, that's a hell of a deal. Now that certain muscle cars are bringing hundreds of thousands and even over a million now, tucking something real nice like that away is a solid investment. Nice find.

Remember, these cars weren't built for all out 1/4 mile power. These cars were built with spirited touring and weekend road racing in mind. These things look mild mannered driving down the road, but don't try to challenge someone driving one of these thru the twisties. These things were made to turn, not go straight.

This one bought on eBay is also on the original tires says the listing. I don't see how it could get much better for a 29 year-old car.
